The stage is set, folks. It’s Alabama vs. Florida in the 2016 SEC Championship game. Kickoff is set for 3:ooPM Central at the Georgia Dome down in Atlanta, Georgia. 2016 marks the final year that the SEC Championship will be played in the Georgia Dome as a new stadium is currently under construction. This is it – this is the mecca of college football in the South.

On one hand, you have the Alabama Crimson Tide, sitting at 12-0 as the SEC West Champions. Nick Saban’s team boasts 11 wins over bowl teams, including a 53-6 romp of a USC team that could be playing in this year’s Rose Bowl. They also disemboweled playoff contenders Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Auburn. Overall, it’s been a pretty solid year for the Tide. They’ve found their quarterback of the future in Jalen Hurts, the defense is as dominant as ever, and Lane Kiffin (aka Joey Freshwater) has yet to get in trouble for banging co-eds. All in all, win, lose, or draw, this has been a good season for Alabama fans. The Tide is likely in the College Football Playoff* whether they win or not, but it’s always good to have those SEC rings on the fingers.

For SEC East Champion Florida, well, a berth in the Sugar Bowl is at stake. Jim McElwain has done a masterful job since joining Florida as the Gators head coach. Guess what – he also happens to be a former disciple of Saban. The Gators have been inconsistent to say the least – they’ve lost games to Tennessee, Arkansas, and Florida State that weren’t even close, and don’t have many quality wins to begin with. The entire season was defined in a 16-10 win over LSU.

In fact, the Vegas consensus on this game is Alabama -24. TIDE BY 24!!! IN A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!! Still, if the Gators pull off the upset, they’ll be heading to New Orleans. If not, that spot likely goes to Auburn (BOOOOO!). There’s a lot at stake for McElwain’s Gators.
