Recapping the 1st Annual SoBros Big Hang

So, if you missed out on Saturday’s 1st annual celebration of our stupid little web site, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. That’s that #InvestigativeJournalism we like to do around here.

The day started for me, Big Natural, at about 11:30AM. I had just one glass of the Eagle Rare bourbon that Poppa Bear bought me for my birthday last year, and was saving it for a special occasion. This was that special occasion.

Then, the crew arrived, and as Cadbury ate the wings he brought over from Buffalo Wild Wings, we all caught up, everyone got their SoBros Network T-shirts, and we let our followers know we were on our way.

You can’t beat live coverage like this:

We had an incredible Lyft driver who really set the tone for a positive day. We came up with several band names – starting with “Car Full of Handsome,” which we quickly degenerated into “Hand Full of Handsome.” The laughter was uproarious, but I misunderstood what they were saying and asked, “did you guys say Hand Full of Hanson?”

It was a great time, but thankfully, we arrived safely. I’ll advocate for Lyft until the day I die.

Then, the unthinkable happened. We were walking towards the establishment, when Remmy reached in his pocket, and realized he left his phone in the Lyft. I’ve never seen such quick decision making, as Remmy sat down the bags he was carrying and proceeded to sprint after the vehicle. The phone was recovered, and then Remmy proceeded to help us set up our merch table. Really strong performance from the SoBros ‘Rookie of the Year’ frontrunner.

Buffalo’s Billiards is an awesome spot – I work downtown, so I’m in there every other day, but there’s just something about having a stage area reserved that made me feel alive.

We started playing some pool, and the margaritas, Buffalo’s Lemonade, and Miller Lite started flowing.

We played some trivia – gave away some AWESOME products from Honeymoon Candle and Exoverse, and before we knew it, our time was up.

And yes, I am using a toy WWE microphone to conduct trivia. The Santa Rampage was gearing up for that evening, so we got the hell out of that place as soon as business started picking up. All in all, we had a grand attendance of 15, which is larger than I ever would’ve imagined our shitty little slice of life humor blog could’ve turned out when we started three years ago.

The night concluded with Poppa Bear and me eating Taki (the best Asian cuisine in Nashville) and laughing our asses off at Ron Dayne during the Heisman presentation.

Overall, it was great – and we’re going to do it again. Rest assured, you’ll have another opportunity to come hang. Next time, we’re eyeing warmer weather. Maybe some time in the Spring, when there isn’t any football, the holidays aren’t occupying everyone’s schedules, and it’s warm enough for people to actually want to go outside.

Thanks to the tremendous SoBros writers, the significant others who support this stupid shit, and the readers who showed up just to drink and hang out with us. Personally, I love every single one of you, and would give you the moon if I could. Hope to see y’all next time!
