Tank the 401k: "The Shots You Don’t Take" Edition

I picked 17 games last week and had a winning week by one game. Hey – I still have a hole to dig myself out of. I say it every week, but shit – I’m running out of time. At this point, I have roughly four percentage points to make up so that I can say I had a winning season.

I can’t get games right if I don’t pick ’em at all! So, here we go – here’s another week of more than a dozen picks. I’m bound and determined to NOT butt chug a bottle of Jack Daniel’s like I said I would at the beginning of the season.

Big Natural’s Picks

NCAAF: New Mexico -7 vs. UTSA – The Lobos are loaded on offense, while the Roadrunners are just fortunate to be here. New Mexico is going to light up the scoreboard. Easy money.

NCAAF: Houston-San Diego State, OVER 54.5 – Love the over in these bowl games. This is one of my most anticipated matchups of bowl season. As Bart Scott would say, “CAN’T. WAIT!”

NCAAF: UCF -5.5 vs. Arkansas State – I like UCF to cover here. Did Arkansas State even beat anyone outside of the Sun Belt this year? I could look it up, but shit….this isn’t that kind of site.

NCAAF: Toledo -1 vs. Appalachian State – Another satiating bowl game on day one. Vegas thinks this is a pretty even match up, too….the tiebreaker? Competition? Well, they both hung around with vastly superior teams this season (Tennessee for App State; BYU for Toledo). I don’t know, man – I just think running through the MAC is a bit better than running through my beloved Sun Belt.

NCAAF: Southern Miss -4.5 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette – If the Golden Eagles that showed up against Kentucky show up in the New Orleans Bowl, the Ragin’ Cajuns are in serious trouble.

NFL: Miami -2.5 @ New York Jets – I don’t care that Tannehill is out. Matt Moore is a more-than-capable back up on a team that is built on running the ball anyway. After Carlos Hyde gashed the Jets last week, I’m expecting a big day from the Jay-Train.

NFL: Kansas City-Tennessee, OVER 42 – If the Titans can contain Tyreek Hill, they have a chance to win this game. I think they probably do a decent enough job to not let the game get away from them, but a 5.5-point spread could go either way. But, I do think both of these offenses are going to be able to score points.

NFL: Oakland -3 @ San Diego – That Carolina loss and the loss of Melvin Gordon may have been the balloon popping on the 2016 Chargers. I like the Raiders in this spot, coming off an extra few days of rest and a loss they need to rebound from to keep pace.

NFL: New England -3 @ Denver – Seems like a good spot for the Broncos to rise up and get back their winning ways, no? Wasn’t last week a good spot for Baltimore? The Patriots reminded us last week just who the hell is still the team to beat in the NFL.

NFL: Cincinnati-Pittsburgh, OVER 44 – Both of these teams are looking pretty good on offense right now. The game could go either way, so bet on the point total…one that could easily get wrecked.

NFL: Washington -5 vs. Carolina – Only Atlanta, New Orleans, and San Francisco have allowed more points this season than Carolina, and don’t look now – but here comes that vaunted Redskins offense. They’ve finally found their gamer at running back in Robert Kelley, and Kirk Cousins will carve up that Panthers secondary.

NCAAF: Central Michigan +12 vs. Tulsa – I get it, Vegas. Tulsa is a good football team. I see you don’t really think the Chippewas are. Still, this bowl probably means a lot more for CMU than it does Tulsa. I think they stay scrappy, but end up losing 40-30.

NCAAF: Memphis +5 vs. Western Kentucky – The Hilltoppers are a great team, no doubt – your C-USA champions, but it’s not like the Tigers are pushovers. I’m worried about WKU coming out flat with Jeff Brohm heading to Purdue.

NCAAF: Wyoming +8.5 vs. BYU – I love the Cowboys this season. Plain and simple.

Last Week: 8-7-2
On the Season: 55-63-5 (46.6%)
