Wrestlemania Jams, Volume 1

Well, people – if you aren’t in the Wrestlemania spirit by now, I just don’t know what’ll do it. It’s not going to stop your boy from trying. I think we’ve just about covered it all this week…I mean, shit – just look at the #content we’ve produced starting all the way back on Monday. Now, we’ve written so many columns that we’ve resorted to breaking down Wrestlemania themes. That’s right – the songs the WWE uses to promote the show.

But, us journalists here at The SoBros Network leave no stone unturned, and that’s why we’re here today. You may know and love our weekly column, Friday Jams. It’s where we drop five tunes on you to get you hyped for Friday. Hopefully, it gets you into your weekend a little merrier.

We’re taking the same premise today, but we’re going to try and get you pumped for Wrestlemania. So, let’s get started with some classic Wrestlemania theme songs.

First, we have to start where it all started for us 90s kids:

I happened to be a huge Limp Bizkit fan in the late 90s/early 2000s (give me a break – I was a kid), so you can imagine my mind was blown when the WWE reached outside of its own production library for the first time to use a “mainstream hit” for the Showcase of Immortals.

It wasn’t really well-known at the time, but Wrestlemania XX’s theme song was pretty fun and oddly stands the test the time as a macho fake fisticuffs anthem:

Wrestlemania XX also marked the first year they added a sappy sentimental song to the ‘Mania highlight package – they did this for a few years, but the first one was an acoustic Godsmack song…weird….but I dig it….

I almost didn’t include this one because many think it’s kind of a forgettable ‘Mania theme, but it’s stood the test of time. In 2017, this is still one of the Wrestlemania themes I think of first.

So weird, but this is honestly one of my favorite Wrestlemania themes.

I hadn’t heard this one before the first Wrestlemania promo came on in 2008, but I knew immediately that this catchy rock number would be an all-timer:

In 2010, WWE shifted towards more pop/hip-hop songs for Wrestlemania – it wasn’t a bad move at all. I think it makes the show feel much more contemporary.

So, I’ll spare you the Flo Rida, but I can’t make this list without mentioning the song that encapsulated the “End of an Era” Undertaker-Triple H Hell in a Cell at Wrestlemania 28. That’s right – a rivalry had its own theme song…

I heard “I’m Coming Home” enough to last a lifetime during the road to Wrestlemania 29, but the “alternate” theme song was a good one:

And, of course, the theme and promo that defined YESlemania! One of the greatest promo packages of all time:

I also really dug Wrestlemania 31’s effort, surprisingly NOT Flo Rida:

And, again with these “rivalry theme songs.” I’m beginning to think Triple H is just like, “y’all, can I get my own theme song? I mean, I know I already have ‘wrestling’ entrance music -AND- ‘promo’ entrance music, but you think my match at Wrestlemania can have its own song, too?”

But, what is the greatest Wrestlemania theme song of all time? Well, in my opinion…look no further:

And, of course, the obligatory “Greenlight” – enjoy the show, folks:
