The NHL Bracket Challenge Is a Damn Shit Show

Do you LOVE the Stanley Cup playoffs and want to keep that excitement from March Madness running?!?! Have you been waiting months for the playoffs to start?!? Trying to get in on the fun of the NHL’s Bracket Challenge?!

Well, lot’s of luck because the NHL has managed to put together the single shittiest, least functional web site of all time. Just like the NHL to screw up something so simple.

I initially tried creating a league for my buddies on Sunday. But, not only was my account not registering, the leagues I’d create wouldn’t show up. I kept getting the stupid 504 gateway error pictured above.

I’d create, edit, and then save my bracket. The next time I’d log in, it’d be gone.

Then, suddenly, yesterday, ALL of the groups I had created showed up. I’m getting texts left and right from friends not being able to get into any league. People finally get through, but not everyone’s in the same league now.

Then, the day the playoffs start, those trying to get in get the 504 gateway error. SMDH. Get yo damn shit together, NHL.

This is why the rest of the major sports leagues are laughing at the NHL – easily the most poorly run organization in professional sports. And, yeah – I get it. I’m blowing this deal out of proportion, but it extends beyond this.

The playoff format is incredibly stupid – you’re going to be eliminating real contenders in the first round because of the structure of qualifying. You’ve made all of these arbitrary rule changes that no one is clamoring for. And, now, when your fans want to have a little fun and get in on May Madness #BecauseItsTheCup, you really screw the pooch.
