This Beaver Has the Leadership Qualities Necessary to Succeed in Life

There aren’t enough good leaders in the world. I’ll be the first to say it. I was just having a conversation with Cadbury and a friend of the site today about how people aren’t accountable enough these days. People are so quick to dodge responsibility and protect themselves that work just plain isn’t getting done.

It’s an outrage. Thankfully, there are people like this beaver in the world to demonstrate just how to motivate people.

A perplexed beaver who accidentally herded 150 head of cattle across a farm in Canada last week has become an online sensation.

One sentence and I’m sold on this guy. 150 wild ass cattle, and here’s this hapless little beaver that just wandered into this mess. Suddenly, he/she is in charge of the whole lot. Amazing, breath-taking, inspirational stuff here. Instead of folding under the pressure of 150 wild ass cattle breathing down his/her neck, this beaver owned the responsibility, and guided these cattle to….wherever they were guided to.

“How do we move 150 heifers in Canada?” wrote rancher Adrienne Ivey, who filmed the unusual encounter in Saskatchewan, in a Facebook post that’s attracted over 100,000 views. “Now I just need a better trained beaver…”

She told local radio station 980 CJME Monday that the young cows are curious “kind of like teenagers.”

Wow – even more blown away, now. Not only are these cattle out of control, but they’re teenagers. So, they’re even less likely to listen to authority. They probably smelled bad and left dirty dishes in their bedroom for entirely too long, too. And yet, our beaver hero here was able to wrangle ’em up.

She told the broadcaster that the beaver was likely out looking for a new place to build a lodge when it came across the cows.

See, folks – this is the prototype for adapting on the fly. This is how you respond to adversity and change. You just own it.

So, to recap, a great leader motivates individuals to work as a team, embraces the chaos and puts in the work to get shit done, and adapts as challenges pop up. This beaver is the living embodiment of #TeamGSD and his/her leadership qualities would make that rodent sonofabitch your boss in no time.

This beaver can come work for us eight days a week.
