Titans: Good Guy Logan Ryan Pays His Brother’s $82,000 Student Loans Off

What a dude! If you don’t follow Tennessee Titans cornerback Logan Ryan on Instagram, your life is definitely missing a constant dose of positivity. But, this…this is unlike anything I’ve seen from the guy. $82,000 shelled out to take care of his brother.

With all of the negative attention that football players get (shootings, strip clubs, etc….and that’s only Pacman Jones), it’s good to see a reminder that, for the most part, these are good guys that are willing to use their platform to help others and take care of their community.

A single tear just trickled down my cheek.

Plus, just breaking down this move, as a whole, the giant check is never NOT a good move. Any time you can get a giant check involved in any project, it’s a positive thing. In fact, this is how I plan to cut checks for all of our writers the first time we can pay them. I will take the cost of the giant check out of that payout, but I’m sure they won’t mind, because everyone loves giant checks.

Back to Ryan, he could have simply handed the money over and smiled for a photo. But, he used this, partially, as a statement against student loans. The system is broken, and the culture of work in our country is forcing kids to make decisions that have lifelong ramifications. I am fortunate enough to have graduated with only $5,000 worth of student loan debt, but for many, that isn’t the case. A lot of my friends and family members have crippling amounts of debt. I’m talking tens of thousands of dollars. Amounts that no one can realistically expect to pay off in a timely manner. Yet, we get these degrees and accrue this debt because that’s the expectation. It’s incredibly flawed, but that’s another story for another day.

Titans fans should be ecstatic that the team is built around guys like Ryan. General manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Mularkey are high on ‘character guys,’ and it seems this unit is gelling because of it. So much positivity involved in this story – kudos to everyone involved.

Ryan should be the top corner for the Titans this season. And, from the looks of his Instagram, he can be a quality leader.

Finally, I’d just like to give a quick shout out to the ‘Ryan Island’ sign hanging in the background. Hope that rings true this season. Titan up!
