Nothing Sums up SEC Media Days Like Paul Finebaum Signing Some Dude’s Forehead

Outrageous – you see Paul Finebaum at a mall in Alabama, and your instinct is to get him to sign your forehead? I like it. That is true respect. While some might say it’s excessive, I’m saying it’s adulation. I mean, if someone thinks highly enough of me to have my signature plastered in permanent ink across their dome, I’m flattered. But, that’s just me.

By the way, how about Finebaum just rolling with the punches?? Like, “what’s that, kid? You want me to write on your forehead with this permanent marker? Yeah, cool – no problem.” Finebaum is a notorious rabble-rouser, but I’ve always heard that he’s genuinely a good dude. I don’t want to speak for anyone, but Finebaum was probably happy to do this.

That, and he probably got a good belly laugh out of this. He’s going to be telling this story for a while. “Guys I kid you not – a 24-year old man asked me to sign his forehead, and I did it, because why not?”

This is an accurate metaphor for the full-on shit show that is SEC Media Days. Don’t get me wrong. I love it. But, I’m still not sure of what purpose it actually serves other than to get all the coaches in one place and have a bunch of reporters ask them the same questions repeatedly.

Poppa Bear pointed this out in his coverage of SEC Media Days, and it bears truth….you guys (reporters) don’t have to ask every coach how they plan to beat Alabama. Actually, you know what would be really funny? If someone asked Nick Saban how he could catch Alabama.

Anyway, I can’t wait until we (hopefully) send Poppa Bear and myself down to cover SEC Media Days next year. You’ll know it’s me when you see a dude getting Clay Travis to sign his butt cleavage.
