MotoGP: America Back on the World Stage with Joe Roberts in Moto2

Yes!  Americans finally have a rider in the MotoGP World Championship once again.  California native and 2015 MotoAmerica Superstock 600 Champion, Joe Roberts, will make his World Championship debut in the Moto2 class this weekend in the Czech Republic.

Having spent the majority of the 2017 season competing in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto2 European Championship, Roberts has been promoted to fill in for the injured Yonny Hernandez.  This should be a smooth transition for the young American, as his current team (Arginano & Gines Racing) also fields the Moto2 World Championship bike for the injured Colombian.

Roberts’ results have been improving each race in the European Championship, where he currently sits 5th in points, and appears to be comfortable with the Moto2 bike.  Hopefully, this experience has also prepared him for the intense riding styles he’ll be up against on the world stage.

Set to compete for the remainder of the MotoGP season, Roberts will begin at Brno, where he took his only win in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2011.

I hope you all will join me this weekend in waving the Red, White and Blue for this talented young man as he competes against the world’s greatest Moto2 racers.  Check out more info on his big move in this link.
