Well, we did it once and now we have to go and do it again. It’s time for the 2nd annual SoBros Big Hang. Last year was such a blast, and you know we always have to extend a thanks to our friends at Buffalo’s Billiards, but this year, we wanted to get out of the downtown scene and do something a little more low key and accessible to some of our most loyal readers.
So, here we are – Riverfront Tavern has agreed to take care of this ragtag bunch of bloggers and any questionable human beings they may bring along with them. What can you expect? Well, hell – I don’t really know. We’re just going to hang out. That’s why it’s called The Big Hang. So, if you’ve ever wanted to drink a beer or two with this bunch, now is your chance.
Saturday October 7th at 4PM, this gang will move in on Riverfront Tavern in Mount Juliet, TN (smack dab in the heart of Providence mall:
Now, if you’re sittin’ there like, “say no more, fam – I’m there,” then go ahead and RSVP on Facebook here. Or, at least let us know that you’ll be hanging out with us so we can keep the fine folks at Riverfront informed of our head count.
But, for those of you who need further convincing, here’s what we’re planning:
Meet the writers
Most importantly, you guys will get the opportunity to meet a group of writers who have been called “the deep soul of Nashville” and “the most handsome squires in the world.” If you’re lucky, I might bend over too quickly at some point, and you may even get to see a little crack. As of this writing, we’re not sure of who all will be attending, but you can read more about our staff here.
Skeeball
Riverfront Tavern has a nice “Beer Ball” (or skee-ball) lane. We are planning on awarding Gold, Silver, and Bronze to the three highest scores of the night. The champion will also receive a nomination for the SoBros People’s Champion of the Year award.
Golden Tee
Likewise, there’s a Golden Tee up in that sumbitch. If you want to get in, we’ll be awarding Gold, Silver, and Bronze to the three highest scores of the night. The tournament will be held under 3-hole rounds to avoid us hogging the machine all night. If you’d like to compete, please let me know ahead of time so I can make sure to document the scores.
Booze
We’re not buying you shit, so please don’t expect that. Damn, we’re just getting started here – what y’all think we’re made of money? But, Riverfront Tavern does have a full bar, and speaking from experience, they can pour a damn good gin and tonic. The beer tap is excellent as well. Drink responsibly or plan accordingly. Lyft and Uber do pick up and drop off in Mount Juliet.
Good food
I have to recommend starting out with the hot pretzels served ball-park style. They come with mustard, but you have to get a side of the cheese sauce to go with it. Good chips and queso, too. As for dinner, I usually switch between the Italian sausage hero and the buffalo chicken wrap. Come hungry – it’s good.
College football
For those concerned about missing football, don’t worry. This place has TVs everywhere. For those not concerned, and eager to kick back and catch all the action, the slate for 10/7 is LOADED (kickoff times TBD):
