Pulling a Gun on Your Opponents Is an Interesting Pro Wrestling Finishing Move

No clue which promotion this came from. No clue how old this is. But, if you’re a fan of this shitty comedy blog, you know we have ZERO interest in doing actual resource. I’m just going to take this clip for what it is and roll with it.

On one hand, I think it’s safe to say this takes away from the realism of professional wrestling. People still like to enjoy suspending their disbelief and enjoying the show. It’s hard to do that when someone literally threatens murder. But, to each his own.

Some people think this is genius. Hilarious even. I’m a fan of pro wrestling of all walks of life, so I’m on board. But, I can see how the purists might not like this. I’m sure if Jim Cornette sees this, he will have a heart attack. Again, we don’t do research here, so I hope Cornette hasn’t had heart issues in the past. I would appear pretty insensitive if that were the case.

But, by kayfabe standards, this is about as effective of a finishing move as you can have. There are two options: tapping out or getting shot in the head. Either way, you are losing the wrestling match.

Reminds me of the Edge-Foley match at Wrestlemania 22 when Edge speared Foley through a flaming table. At some point, Jim Ross mentioned that Edge could’ve served hard time, but Foley neglected to press charges. Just a subtle touch that’s a real testament to the legend of good ol’ JR. But, that was a little different than flat out pulling a gun on someone. Why wouldn’t any of these guys press charges?

That’s a little hard to explain…what are the faces going to say? “Well, you know, if you’re not first, you’re last. He beat us to it so I guess we deserved to have a gun pointed at our faces and, worst of all, lose the wrestling match.”
