Poppa Bear’s Mock Draft 2.0 With the Ragtop Down So My Hair Can Blow

Honestly, I’m just as surprised as you are. I didn’t think it would happen, but here we sit with version 2.0. I’m not saying my first draft wasn’t perfect – let’s face it, it was – I’m just taking my bet with Big Natural seriously.

After scrounging around the rumor mill of the NFL, I’ve managed to come across enough pearls of wisdom to update my mock draft.

Here’s what hasn’t changed: The Titans will still trade the 5th pick. Of course, this almost entirely depends on how San Francisco picks at #2. If the 49ers decide to take a QB, as is being rumored, the Titans will have a harder time finding a trade partner.

If, for instance, Solomon Thomas comes off the board at #2, Jon Robinson’s phone will start ringing immediately. My bet? Cleveland will come calling.

Having said that, my mock draft will still include zero trades. Those are the rules kids; the dude just abides. Let’s see how it shakes out.

1. Cleveland: Myles Garrett, OLB, Texas A&M – The most obvious choice and best play for Cleveland. If Garrett isn’t first, Cleveland deserves to stay as the laughing stock of the NFL.

2. San Francisco: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford – Another obvious choice, the Niners add a solid pass rusher and pass on a weak QB class.

3. Chicago: Jamal Adams, S, LSU – Adams is one of the two best players in the draft, and his stock continues to rise. Chicago needs a QB, but they shouldn’t pass on Adams.

4. Jacksonville: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU – Blake Bortles might not be the QB of the future, but he could use some help in the back field.

5. Tennessee: Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State – This seems to be the popular pick for the Titans. I’m not a fan, but with Jamal Adams off the board, Tennessee pulls the trigger on the top CB on the board.

6. NY Jets: Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State – The Jets wanted Adams, but are perfectly happy with Hooker, who is almost as solid.

7. LA Chargers: Jonathan Allen, DT, Alabama – The Chargers could go several different directions, but with Allen on the board, they can’t let a solid pass rusher fall any longer.

8. Carolina: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford – Honestly, I’m still not sure McCaffrey is a top 10 pick, but he could do a lot of damage teamed with Cam Newton.

9. Cincinnati: Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama – The Bengals have needs at RB, but with Fournette gone, they add needed depth at LB with the hard-hitting Foster.

10. Buffalo: Mike Williams, WR, Clemson – Williams rounds out the top ten, adding a much-needed dynamic receiving threat to the Bills, and help for Tyrod Taylor.

11. New Orleans: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee – The Saints defense has been atrocious the last three years. They must go defense here, and Barnett is the best difference maker available.

12. Cleveland: Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina – The Browns get their quarterback without having to trade up.

13. Arizona: Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech – I’m not sure this is where Mahomes should go. It’s entirely too high. But, the rumor mill suggests the Cardinals are ready to draft for Carson Palmer’s replacement, and the Cards are high on Mahomes.

14. Philadelphia: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama – Originally, I thought the Eagles would go offense here, but with a real need at CB, and Humphrey on the board, it’s an easy choice.

15. Indianapolis: Haason Reddick, LB, Temple – The Colts could use some help with speed at the OLB position. Reddick fits the bill better than anyone available. Would be a solid pick.

16. Baltimore: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan – Davis doesn’t wait long to come off the board. I think the Eagles want McCaffrey, but Davis is a weapon they can’t pass up.

17. Washington: Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA – Rumors have Washington set on adding to their defense. McKinley is climbing up draft boards, and fits the bill for the Redskins.

18. Tennessee: OJ Howard, TE, Alabama – OJ Howard is still on the board?!? I doubt he falls this far, but it would be a homerun for the Titans. Delanie Walker is one of the top TEs in the league, but adding Howard would stabilize the future. It doesn’t hurt that Howard is a top tier blocking TE.

19. Tampa Bay: Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State – Bringing in Cook to pair him with former teammate Jameis Winston is the play here. Joe Mixon might be the better bet, but he hits women, so I refuse to let him get drafted in my mock draft.

20. Denver: Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama – The Broncos need some help on the offensive line. Even with recent scrutiny into his play, Robinson is the best OT in this year’s class.

21. Detroit: Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida – A name that has been flying up draft boards, Davis is a solid player that fits a need for the Lions.

22. Miami: Forrest Lamp, G, Western Kentucky – Miami absolutely loves this guy. With Tunsil shifting from guard to tackle, Lamp has a spot ready with his name on it.

23. NY Giants: Garrett Bolles, OT, Utah – Another change here, but NY sticks with help on offense and more protection for Eli.

24. Oakland: Kevin King, CB, Washington – Gareon Conley was the pick here, but with allegations surrounding him, the Raiders move on to the next best available CB to beef up a terrible secondary.

25. Houston: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson – Unfortunately for Houston, Mahomes is off the board. The Texans still REALLY need a QB, and Watson is available here.

26. Seattle: Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan – Yeah, I listed him at safety, but Peppers does everything, and Seattle could use a versatile player.

27. Kansas City: Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt – The Chiefs could go several different directions here. Don’t be surprised to see Deshaun Watson go here, but I just like Zach Cunningham too much to leave him out.

28. Dallas: Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan – My favorite name in the draft heads to Dallas as the best option to help a mediocre defensive line.

29. Green Bay: TJ Watt, OLB, Wisconsin – OK, hear me out. Yeah, Green Bay needs a running back. Who is the best RB on the board? Joe Mixon. And, no, I won’t draft him. Not even for Chic-Fil-A. Watt is a solid pick up here though.

30. Pittsburgh: TreDavious White, CB, LSU – When in doubt, always strengthen your secondary. The Steelers definitely need some help against the likes of Aaron Rodgers.

31. Atlanta: Charles Harris, DE, Missouri – The Falcons have a lot to build on, but a pass rusher is the missing piece.

32. New Orleans: Adoree’ Jackson, CB, USC – Adding Derek Barnett was a huge plus, but that doesn’t change terrible coverage in the secondary. Jackson, however, could change that.

Enjoy the Draft folks! Poppa Bear loves you.

P.S. Yeah, I quoted Vanilla Ice in my article title. Good news, my editor lets me do stuff like that. Honestly, it’s better than working for ESPN.
