This has to be one of my favorite “viral video” type clips of the year so far – it’s not quite at the level of the old guy airbag prank or the monkey flinging shit on granny’s nose, but it’s in the conversation.
So funny – the music makes it even better, like it’s some sort of umbrella apocalypse and our shining hero is the only man willing to stand up and fight back. “The umbrellas are charging! We must stop this uprising!”
But, I have no Earthly idea what this guy was trying to accomplish here. Did he think he would be able to stop that umbrella by spearing it with another umbrella? Why was he trying to save that one umbrella? There are like a dozen just billowing down the beach! Also, what if he had successfully speared it? What good is an umbrella with a hole in it?! Maybe his method was to spear the umbrellas out of the air and collect them in a nice, neat little pile. If that’s the case, buddy, that’s a bad plan….because, again, there are more umbrellas rolling down the beach than there are dudes. It’s a scientifically proven fact that you cannot be in 12 places at once. Sorry.
It made no sense, but honestly, that’s what makes it so funny. Just some random dude doing something totally random – damn, that shit gets me every time. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I’m a sucker, I guess.
Sidenote: that’s a shitty day at the beach for whoever has to chase those damn things down and bring ’em back to where they originally were.
