Tank the 401k: Clean Slate Edition

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve had a good week like that. Kicking off the season going 4/5, folks! If you put money on my picks, congrats – YOU ARE FILTHY FUCKING RICH! If you didn’t put money on my picks, well I don’t blame you, either. It actually makes me cringe a bit when friends come up and they’re like, “Stones – love your picks. I bet my daughter’s kidney on ’em!” True story. But, since we’re going to go ahead and call this season a success (there it is – just fuckin’ jinxed myself), we might as well take a victory lap.

Me after last week’s 4-1 start to the season.

Alright, but as Bill Belichick would say: “we’re on to Cincinnati.”

Can’t let the waves pull you too high or too low as the old Chinese proverb says, so let’s get back to work. It’s time to pick some games, and this week, ohhhhhhh hold on to your butts, the NFL returns. Let’s. GOOOOOO!

Big Natural’s Picks

NCAAF: Mississippi State -8 @ Louisiana Tech – I know it’s a road game for the (MS State) Bulldogs, and I know they had a cupcake in Week 1, but you can’t tell me you aren’t all in on Nick Fitzgerald. Louisiana Tech is not the same Louisiana Tech that won nine games a season ago. Mississippi State winning this by 10 isn’t unreasonable at all.

NCAAF: Clemson -5.5 vs. Auburn – They’re at home, and the offense appears to be in great shape under Kelly Bryant. I’m both not ready to give the defending champs a loss -AND- not ready to fully buy in on Auburn just yet. I say Clemson 35-28.

NCAAF: Houston @ Arizona – OVER 69.5 – Between these two offensive systems, I probably would’ve bet the over even if it was 100 points. But, seriously, there’s no reason to believe this won’t end 42-40 or something like that. With a 1.5 point spread (in favor of Houston) in a game that could honestly go either way, the point total is the safer play. I’m #AllIn on this one.

NFL: Carolina -5.5 @ San Francisco – The Panthers aren’t as bad as their record was last year, and the 49ers may be worse than their record last year. I’m a huge believer in the defensive upgrades they’ve made, but this is a roster void of elite experienced talent. They’re years away from contending, so I expect the Panthers to start the 2017 campaign strong in order to get back into contention for the NFC title.

NFL: Indianapolis @ Los Angeles Rams – UNDER 41.5 – With Andrew Luck being out, and Jared Goff being Jared Goff, I think both of these offenses are going to struggle to score points. Plus, the Rams have an underrated defense that could make it even harder on Scott Tolzien and company. I say this game ends 16-13 Los Angeles.

Last Week: 4-1
On the Season: 4-1 (80%)
