Tank the 401k: ‘I’m Still Being Positive’ Edition

I tried to tell y’all that last week was kind of a funky week, and I ended up going 2-3…my first losing week of the season. But, that’s okay. I’ve already decided that I’m going to be much more positive this season. Last year, I got a little out of control. I was more than a little manic, talking about butt-chugging and sleeping in the Cumberland.

As an overall rule in my life, I’m making more of an effort to be healthy, steady, and not overreact when I have a losing week in picking games that have no bearing on my life because I don’t actually bet.

Don’t take that as me on my high horse, either. I would probably definitely totally bet on sports if it was legal or if I knew of a safe way to do it without getting caught. But, as we all know, I’m not that smart.

Anyway, let’s get on to this week’s picks, as I’m definitely 1,000,000% picking them all correctly!

Big Natural’s Picks

NCAAF: Wake Forest -5 @ Appalachian State – The Demon Deacons are 3-0, but more importantly, they’re 3-0 against the spread this season. In their only road game so far, they went to Boston College and demolished the Eagles 34-10 in what Vegas called a pick ’em. I don’t think App State is quite the team that won the Sun Belt last year, so I like Wake Forest in this spot.

NCAAF: Michigan -10 @ Purdue – Poppa Bear is far from ready to buy in on Michigan, but I am. Purdue looks like a bowl team this season, but they haven’t faced anyone with the defense that the Wolverines have. I don’t like that Michigan didn’t cover against two inferior opponents, but this is a game they should win big in as Purdue won’t be able to score.

NCAAF: Mississippi State @ Georgia, OVER 48.5 – This game really could go either way, so I’m avoiding picking a winner, and going with the safer pick: hitting the over. Georgia is averaging 31 points per game. Mississippi State is averaging 47.7….you do math…I’d say these are two pretty decent offenses. Even if these teams don’t play up to that potential, this one could end 28-24 or something like that.

NCAAF: Memphis PICK vs. Southern Illinois – Uhhhhhh, the South Point casino and hotel in Vegas currently has the Memphis-Southern Illinois game as a pick ’em. You fly to Vegas and put all of your money on Memphis right now if you can still get it.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams -2.5 @ San Francisco – When it’s all said and done, the 49ers could be the worst team in the NFL. They are just completely void of talent on offense, scoring six points per game so far. The Rams couldn’t perform as a favorite against Washington, but the ‘Skins are much better than the Niners. Oddly enough, I’m buying in on this new Rams regime…mainly because it does not feature Jeff Fisher.

NFL: Tennessee Titans -2.5 vs. Seattle Seahawks – This isn’t as much faith in the Titans as it is lack of faith in the Seattle offense. They’re averaging just 10.5 points per game, and those are mostly field goals. They haven’t covered a spread yet, and the Titans offense looked like it figured itself out against a talented Jaguars defense. People in Vegas may be giving Mike Mularkey’s squad some credit, but I say the Titans shock the general football viewing community and beat the Seahawks 21-16.

Last Week: (2-3)
On the Season: (9-6) – 60%
