Tank the 401k: ‘Steady Eddie’ Edition

At this point last season, I had already endured an 0-6 week and a 2-5 week. Though my production has trailed off the last two weeks, this sumbitch is staying steadily in the win column on the season. I really want to keep that up so that I don’t have to write a prop bet column for the Super Bowl with what felt like 100 bets to try and win the season. I’m watching a lot of football, really studying the game, and ignoring my friends and family in pursuit of a winning season.

Still, I need a really good week. If not for a miracle pick ’em between Memphis and Southern Illinois, I would’ve had a losing weekend. I need to just keep things steady and there will be no talk of butt-chugging, or jumping off of a bridge any time soon.

Big Natural’s Picks

NCAAF: Georgia -7 @ Tennessee – The Bulldogs are for real and look like the class of the SEC East so far. They’re the only team that has looked consistently good. As for the Vols, they just still haven’t quite put it together yet. Struggling to beat UMass was a huge red flag. I think Georgia runs all over them on Saturday.

NCAAF: Vanderbilt +10 @ Florida – You can talk about that 59-0 drumming all you want, but if this Commodores team is anything like its head coach, Derek Mason, they’ve already forgotten it and are on to Florida. The ‘Dores still boast quite the defense, and I’m going to give them a pass for that game against Alabama. The Gators have lucked their way to a 2-1 record, but they just as easily could be 0-3. This isn’t a good football team, and they aren’t going to push around Vandy easily. The ‘Dores cover.

NCAAF: BYU -3 @ Utah State – It’s easy not to trust the 1-3 Cougars, but they’ve had an absolutely brutal go of it so far having to take on LSU, Utah, and Wisconsin in consecutive weeks. Utah State has whooped up on inferior competition, but have been dominated by better teams Wisconsin and Wake Forest. I consider BYU the better team, so they should win this one by at least a touchdown.

NFL: Washington @ Kansas City, OVER 49.5 – The onus was defense last week for both of these teams, but that was an unusual performance from Washington, and the Chiefs have allowed good offenses to score points. But, the common theme between the two? They score however many points they need to win. I think this one could turn into a shootout, but I like the Chiefs 31-27.

NFL: Buffalo +8 @ Atlanta – Even against mediocre Packers and Bears defenses, the Falcons didn’t light up the scoreboard. Sure, they’re scoring about 30 points per game, but the Bills are playing some good defense so far this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one ending up 24-17 Atlanta.

Last Week: (3-3)
On the Season: (12-9) – 57%
