F³: “Will the Nats Ever Win a Playoff Series?” and Other Clown Questions, Bro

Let’s start off by pouring one out for the NL East Champs. Has any franchise done less with more than the former Expos? With so many question marks entering the off-season, is it unrealistic to expect Washington to 3-peat atop the Division? Was this their best shot at a Pennant? I guess $168 Million doesn’t go as far as it used to…

Speaking of dollars, have the Dodgers finally purchased their first World Series appearance since my birth year? After making short work of the D’Backs in the NLDS, does LA represent the best chance to dethrone Chicago? Hypothetically, do we see a situation where a dealing Clayton Kershaw, allowing no runs and maybe a hit or two, is pulled prior to the 7th inning? Baseball is a superstitious sport, Kershaw’s 7th inning struggles are well documented, and stranger things have happened. But, I’m glad that potential decision rests with Dave Roberts and not I.

Shifting over to the American League, I’d like to point out that I’ve only asked two things of the Cleveland Indians. First, to make me laugh every time I watch Major League. Second, to put the Damn Yankees out of the postseason after jumping up 2-0 in a 5-game series. While one hit in every three at bats will earn you a spot in the MLB HoF, batting .500 on my requests have earned Chief Wahoo’s Tribe a sore spot in my heart. I have to ask, “Was the come from behind, 13- inning, Game 2, thrilling victory even worth it?” Nay says I. But, will the August additions of Verlander and and Maybin be the pieces the Astros needed to end the Bronx Baby Bombers run? I know one 29 year old Middle Tennessean hoping so.
