F³: Fall Classic, Tuesday Edition

In the words of living UFC legend Bruce Buffer, “It’s time!” Tonight’s Game 1 will feature two heavyweight offenses set to square off against a couple dynamic South-paws. In my opinion, it’ll kick start one of the most enticing World Series match-ups in the past decade.

Fighting out of the Red Corner, hailing from Houston, Texas, with a regular season record of 101-61, we have the Astros. What they lack in WS experience, they more than make up for with charisma. Led by all 5 feet 6 inches of AL MVP front-runner Jose Altuve, Houston is a fun team to watch. With a young core of players and a few savy vets sprinkled in, the team hands the ball to 29-year old Dallas Keuchel. He’s looking to avenge a rare ALCS loss, and prove that it’s not about the size of the dog in the fight.

Out of the Blue Corner, the Dodgers come in with a regular season record of 104-58. The record could have been even better had they not dropped 20 of 25 during a September skid. Despite that rough patch, the team from LA is built for success. They made short work of the National League Bracket to earn their spot as the Favorite in this World Championship bout. Tonight, opposite Keuchel is another 29-year old Lefty you may have heard of. He’s often mentioned during discussions of the greatest pitchers of all time, Clayton Kershaw. While his talent has never been questioned, his postseason win percentage is sub .500. So, it’ll be interesting to see if the ‘Stros come out swinging.

While it may not be to the extreme of the David and Goliath Biblical Battle a few years back, Sin City heavily favors the squad from the City of Angels. As a NL guy all my life, I find myself pulling for Houston. What about you SoBros Nation? In this year of opposites, who you with?
