Breaking: Jay Ajayi Traded to the Philadelphia Eagles

Jay Ajayi has been one of the more underrated running backs in the NFL for the past couple of seasons. A sixth rounder in 2015, Ajayi came on strong last season with 1,272 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Word’s trickling out that he has now been traded:

I’m not sure what’s in it for Miami here honestly. This tells me that they’re in full-on rebuild mode. The offensive line isn’t playing that well. They have Jay Cutler and Matt Moore dancing around at quarterback. And, they just had the doors blown off by the Baltimore Ravens.

All that said, I thought this was still a playoff contender. Maybe they’re just trying to get ahead of Ajayi’s decline. He has some injury concerns, and behind that offensive line I just said wasn’t playing well, he wasn’t exactly having his best season – just 465 yards and no touchdowns.

Bottom line is Ajayi cost the Dolphins a sixth round pick, and they’re getting a fourth rounder out of him. Ajayi goes to a Super Bowl contending Eagles team that is running the ball much better than the Fins are. Everyone seems to win in this scenario….as long as Miami’s plan is to raise the white flag on 2017 and acquire draft picks for the future.
