It’s no secret how good Patrick Ewing was back in his heyday. That’s the NBA I grew up on – Ewing, Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan all running roughshod over the league. I’m no basketball expert, nor do I pretend to be one, but I have to imagine that’s gotta be one of if not THE golden era of the NBA. Ewing was a focal point of it regardless.
The guy had 27,628 career points (regular season and postseason). He earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1985. He made the All Star game 11 times, won two Olympic Gold Medals, and the accolades could go on and on. But, one thing his stats and accomplishments don’t show you is just how relentless he was on the court:
Patrick Ewing was relentless. #tbt

Hot damn, I’m winded just watching the hustle. If I attempted that, I’d have two shredded ACLs before I took five steps. Like, he’s not only batting the ball away, but he’s running the full length of the court to slam it down your throats.
Why did the Knicks even sign other players? Patrick Ewing vs. everybody. Five on one, every game, it wouldn’t matter. Ewing was a machine.
Might as well just bend ’em over the bench if you know what I mean. You’re getting marked by the alpha when Patrick Ewing comes to town, motherfuckers.
