NFL Power Rankings: Week 11

Well, shit – we’re a bunch of football writers, so I guess we have to get in on the ‘NFL Power Rankings’ action. So, here we are. Your boy “Big Natural” is a major advocate of the Bill Parcells school of thinking in that ‘you are what your record says you are.’

With that in mind, my power rankings are going to be based on the body of work. I don’t care what you were supposed to do before the season started. Nor do I care what you could do in a potential matchup. I’m placing an emphasis on what teams have actually done.

NFL POWER RANKINGS: WEEK 11

1. Philadelphia Eagles – Nothing has changed since last week, except that the Eagles SPANKED one of their most heated rivals, the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. The NFC looks like it’s going to be competitive down the stretch so I’m curious to see how they hold up, but at 9-1, they’re clearly the best team in the league so far.

2. New England Patriots – Business as usual for the Patriots, as they demolished the Oakland Raiders in Mexico City. The AFC is looking pretty thin this season, but the Steelers are starting to close the gap. We should be in store for a killer AFC Championship matchup.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers put away a Titans team that was scrappy for three quarters. They’ve looked shaky at times this season, but it seems as though they’re finding their footing.

4. New Orleans Saints – The Saints really could be the most complete team in the NFL. They can run. They can pass. And, the defense is lightyears ahead of what any of us expected. They showed some moxie in a comeback win over Washington. They belong among the NFC’s elite.

5. Minnesota Vikings – Alright, y’all. Even the harshest critic of the Vikes this season has to stand up and say: I was wrong. The Vikings are a damn good football team. How can I even argue with 8-2 anymore? Time to pony up. Minnesota looks like a team that could make some noise in the playoffs.

6. Los Angeles Rams – The Rams stumbled after a convincing loss to the Vikings, but I haven’t lost faith in them. The offense is still electric, and as long as Jared Goff and Todd Gurley keep playing at a high level, they’ll be fine.

7. Carolina Panthers – Time to start buying in on the dynamic Panthers. Something still doesn’t quite feel right with this team, but they’re winning ball games in a competitive conference.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars – Another solid week for the best defense in football. The Jags are now 7-3 atop the AFC South, and per the eye test, they just look like the best team in the division.

9. Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks seem to be missing an identity, but they’re winning games despite that. The NFC wild card race could be crowded this year, so they’ve got to step it up to ensure themselves a spot.

10. Kansas City Chiefs – Oh, how the mighty have fallen. The Chiefs were once undefeated, Super Bowl favorites. Now, they’ve lost four out of five, including one last week to one of the worst teams in the NFL: the Giants.

11. Detroit Lions – I’m still not lost on a team that is playing decent defense and has Matthew Stafford at the helm. At one point, I considered the Lions among the NFC’s elite, and they’re still showing some of that potential. Just need a little more consistency.

12. Atlanta Falcons – At this point, you have to consider the Super Bowl hangover done. Matt Ryan has the Falcons back in the hunt in the NFC.

13. Tennessee Titans – It shouldn’t all be doom and gloom for Titans fans. In Pittsburgh, on short rest – can’t be too surprised. Still, they’re far from the team we all expected them to be. Thankfully, it looks like a down year for the AFC.

14. Baltimore Ravens – The Ravens are the clear beneficiaries of the collapse of the Buffalo Bills. This is a team that has potential to get hot and go on a run in a weak conference.

15. Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys look lost without Zeke Elliot, but they’re sitting at .500 and very much alive in the NFC wild card picture.
