Final F3: BREAKING NEWS: Sunday Evening Passing of the Torch Edition

Just 75 days removed from a historic Game 7 ending of an exhilarating 2017 MLB campaign, we have huge news out of the Middle Tennessee area. Sources say the SoBros Network has agreed to terms with 49-year-old Dick Doyle, the estranged son of former Indians Broadcaster, Harry Doyle. The 2018 offseason has no doubt been busy, but one could argue this is the most noteworthy transaction to date.

Dick will be relieving Adam Ogilvie of his duties covering the league after just one year. Ogilvie had a strong start to the season but his productivity dropped significantly, being nearly non-existent after the All-Star break. When asked to address the move, SoBros spokesman Rhett Reno said, “He’s got double letters, he’s cool,” and “Could it possibly be any worse?” and D. Doyle’s father questioned, “I have a kid?!”

Harry did, in fact, have a kid and the two shared the booth together until his son’s 2002 suspension, stemming from the Balco investigation. In Doyle Sr’s defense, much of their tenure was a rough stretch for the Tribe, during which he often showed up to work drunk and called his son “Monty.” His lack of parental competency proved beneficial this week as it seems the MLB suspended his pseudonym “Monty,” not Dick Doyle, allowing his son to sign with SoBros Network.

Former SoBro Ogilvie’s parting words seemed a mix of disappointment but understanding, wishing Doyle the best of luck in the role. The timeline of the transition is not entirely clear, but optimists predict Doyle’s introductory article within the week.
