There’s Never a Bad Time to Watch Monkeys Riding Dogs

We all know there are a ton of marketing ploys when it comes to live entertainment. Every show has a gimmick and, for the most part, they are eye-roll-inducing. But, some of the classics, man – they became classics for a reason. Take monkeys riding dogs, for instance. It’s one of the greatest entertainment gimmicks of all time. Let’s revisit.

As usual, here’s a link in case Instagram takes this down.

Without puppies, there would be no this. Whatever this is. #NationalPuppyDay

Right off the bat – do I have some questions about this video? Sure. What are those rams doing there? Why is there a dude running around seemingly directing traffic? Isn’t that what the herding monkeys are there for?

But, folks, I’m here to tell you – none of those questions matter a lick of a hiccup.

Monkeys riding dogs like they’re people and horses is an age old promotional tactic that just plain puts asses in seats. Why? Because there is nothing bad about it. Name someone who isn’t affiliated with PETA that doesn’t like watching monkeys riding dogs. Go on, I’ll wait.

Just look at him! Even has his little chaps on and everything. He looks like he’s ready to play for the Indianapolis Colts in the monkey league. Just incredibly heart-warming and fun for the whole family. Even me, a guy who is as cynical and hard to please as anyone on Earth, a guy who has been repeatedly told he hates fun, EVEN. ME – I’m totally on board with monkeys riding dogs.

Also, shout out to The Checkdown….they usually suck total ass, but this was a nice break from all of the usually hokey boring content. Good for you guys.
