I’ve been thinking about getting back on the fanny pack train for several weeks now. Don’t know what it is, but it’s like the older I get, the less I give a shit. I hate having stuff in my pockets. Everything’s all clunky and bulky and uncomfortable, so most of the time, I end up just carrying my stuff around. Or, if my girlfriend’s with me, I’ll just ask her to put all of my stuff in her purse. First world problems, I know – but, you can imagine my delight upon reading that fanny pack flip flops are on the way.

“What is that thing?” you may be wondering. So we’ll fill you in: Nike’s latest “it” item — the Benassi “Fanny Pack” slide, according to various style reports. Yes, you read that correctly. Nike has apparently put two of the ultimate summer staples together, creating the most functional — or questionable — item of the season.
A Nike spokesperson confirmed for Yahoo Lifestyle that the slides are indeed launching but could not yet share additional details.

I mean, this is like two of the most practical Summer items you could ask for, combined into one! You have all the comfort and convenience of a flip flop, which is an absolute Summer staple. There’s no better feeling than sliding on a flip flop and trekking on through your day. But, then, you have a fanny pack on it, to hold your keys and wallet! It sounds liberating, to be frank. I’m no longer confined to any sort of fashion standard, and I can wear gym shorts out without worrying about the weight of my wallet pulling them down and exposing my ass to the public.
Now, the hard part is going to be convincing my manager at the dreaded day job to let me wear these to work. Somehow, I don’t foresee that conversation going well. But, hey – worth a shot.
