The MTV series about guys doing pranks and stunts seems cool at first, but to go from television to the big screen just seemed unlikely. And now the Jackass group has made a trilogy. Wow. This third installment of Jackass is done in 3D and what a treat it is. While it is used for showing ridiculous and disgusting things, that is the purpose. But the 3D is best used at the beginning and end of the movie, not so much in the middle.

Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Wee Man, Steve-O and the rest of the gang are still having a blast making each other hurt and puke. We know what Jackass 3D is going to be and the real question is can we handle their pain and pranks without being too disgusted? Well if you have seen the other two Jackass movies then you know the answer already.

Knoxville and the guys are having fun and wanting to go to the extreme. They put themselves through hell to make each other and the audience laugh. Most of them can handle it. There is something about these guys tormenting each other that keeps bringing audiences back for more. And with Jackass 3D, they don’t shy away from anything. Pranks involving shit, flying dildos, getting kicked, punched, hit and nudity is all there.

But how long can all of this continue? Now they have used 3D like every movie this year so where does Jackass go from here? Supposedly, this was going to be the last one, but that was before it made over $50 million in its opening weekend. The stupid and gross things they do are funny, but like the guys themselves, they are getting old.

Jackass 3D is not as funny as I was hoping for and some folks may leave disappointed. The reason is simple – we’ve seen these guys go through it all over and over beginning on TV ten years ago. Sure the movie has made more than anyone thought, but it is time to call it quits. Maybe the Jackass group can end on top and still in good health.

Yeah, right.
