Bubba Wallace Hit a Corner at 205 MPH With No Brakes and Holy Shit What a Crash

I think this may be the first NASCAR “article” we’ve ever written, but when this popped up on the Twitter dot com machine, I had to share it. Apparently, Bubba Wallace’s brakes went out during yesterday’s race at Pocono. Dude heads into a corner at 205 MPH and CAN’T STOP. I’ll say up front that the dude’s okay, but the video of the wreck is some wild stuff.

Yeah, this has gotta be one of those instances where you’re just thanking your lucky stars to be alive. That car is humming along, and doesn’t seem to slow down that much at all before crashing into the wall. Can you imagine? I would instantly faint upon realizing that my brakes were out and throwing up a prayer was the only chance I had of slowing down before caving into a wall. Part of that would be the panic of realizing I couldn’t slow down.

Part of that would be the shock of finding myself in a NASCAR race considering I drive like an old man, have no connections in NASCAR, and that seems like a sudden change in my life. The type of change that is only brought on by losing one’s sanity. So not only am I about to hit a wall, but I’m going crazy as well – that’s how I end up unconscious.

By the way, are we always supposed to capitalize every letter in NASCAR? If I’m going to be a NASCAR writer now all of a sudden, I need to know.

But, in all seriousness, this a harsh reminder of the dangers of the sport. Shout out to Bubba Wallace for walking away from this incident largely unscathed, and thankfully – he doesn’t have a pair of twins in his belly.
