Mount Juliet Is Getting a Rad Housing Development Downtown

Nashville’s growth is practically a running joke at this point. It’s inevitable that we’re going to start seeing that growth trickle out to the suburbs. For Mount Juliet, the town has undergone a complete makeover from the days when a kid Big Natural would sit in eager anticipation of the next trip to Mt. Juliet Video & Comics. I remember when Mount Juliet Road was just a two-lane road. And, of course, I remember what a momentous occasion it was when the BP-McDonald’s opened up just off of I-40.

Since then, Providence Marketplace came in and totally reshaped the town. No longer did we have to drive to Nashville for entertainment. Practically everything we needed was within a radius of a few miles. That was 2006 – in the years since, apartments, houses, and neighborhoods have popped up all over town as people continue moving into the city. Small businesses and restaurants litter Mount Juliet Road, and it’s become a nice little oasis from all the downtown madness if I do say so myself.

Well, news broke this week that the skyline of Mount Juliet will continue to grow. By the end of 2020, there should be a totally rad sounding and looking housing development built right in the heart of downtown.

A mixed-use plan to build 192 apartments and 28 townhomes in Mt. Juliet will break ground in early 2019.

Vintage Station North is now the name of the development between Industrial Drive and the railroad tracks off North Mt. Juliet Road that was approved earlier this year by city commissioners.

Big news, folks – that’s a whole lot of development. I have to say, though, they could’ve come up with a better name than Vintage Station North. Are they trying to attract more hipsters? The word ‘vintage’ is like crack to those of us who are in our 20s (or are 32 – shhhhh).

I say “downtown Mount Juliet” rather tongue in cheek. But, it certainly seems like if there were to be a “downtown” Mount Juliet area, Vintage Station North would be smack dab in it. So, maybe this is the start of Mount Juliet getting an actual skyline? Are we becoming the next Murfreesboro?!?

The project will market pedestrian access to the train station. The development will includes two four-story apartment buildings separated by a courtyard containing commercial development, a two-story commercial building, dog park and two- and three-story townhomes.

The project promises “high-end amenities” for apartments and townhomes, and residents will have access to a resort-style pool, fitness rooms and rooftop space.

You mean to tell me Mount Juliet is getting four-story buildings now?! This is big time.

But, seriously, this sounds awesome – this actually sounds like a resort. So, I’m happy to read in the story on The Tennessean that you should totally click and read that the locals are completely on board with this idea.

Mount Juliet is on the rise.
