Some of you guys are already down in Chattanooga, Tennessee, enjoying the SCI weekend 2019 festivities. I’ll be heading down with Poppa Bear around 4PM on Thursday – gonna be cutting it close for the Crux show, but that’s a day job for ya. Mose will be down there earlier, and honestly, I can speak for all of us when I say we can NOT wait to get this weekend rolling.
On the latest episode of Checks and Championships, “The General” himself was kind enough to join me for an in-depth preview of SCI weekend 2019.
It all starts off with Crux Wrestling’s Hey Jealousy – Mose gives us his take on the event that kicks off SCI weekend, breaking down the high drama between our guy Righteous Jesse and James C. Businessman that led to a “Fans Bring the Weapons” Death Match. Jesse will team up with Kerry Awful to take on Tank and Matt Tremont. Plus, we have to talk about B-Boy vs. Chip Day, and the return of O’Shay Edwards to Chattanooga. Do not sleep on this show.
From there, it’s on to the Scenic City Invitational itself. Mose breaks down the Night 1 matches and gives us a list of his favorites. Plus, he throws in a few sleepers. How hard is it going to be for Joey Lynch to repeat? Who is conditioned best to make a deep run in the tournament? What kind of shenanigans are going to go down on Night 2? Plus, what about this LOADED field for 2019 SCI Futures on Saturday afternoon? Neither of us can remember a SCI event that has felt this crammed full of talent.
With Southern Underground Pro wrapping up the weekend back in Nashville on Sunday, we talk about the HUGE Bonestorm Championship match. Brett Ison defends his title against the aforementioned Edwards, J.D. Drake, and Anthony Henry, all of whom are actually in SCI this year as well. Ison has yet to face a challenge like this in SUP, but was it the right call to put four guys in this match? What will Ison have to do to hold on to that coveted Bonestorm Championship?
