Welcome to NFL DFS advice for the Colts at Titans matchup during Week 2 of the 2019 season. Every week, Joshua Huffman will preview some of the main participants from the Tennessee Titans games. These guides will include player pricing, injuries, potential mismatches, and anything else players should consider when choosing players from Tennessee and/or their opponents.

Colts at Titans: Key Players & Pricing

  • Derrick Henry ($6000)
  • Marcus Mariota ($5000)
  • Corey Davis ($4500)
  • Adam Humphries ($4300)
  • Dion Lewis ($4000)
  • A.J. Brown ($4000)
  • Delanie Walker ($3500)
  • Titans D/ST ($3100)
  • T.Y. Hilton ($6800)
  • Marlon Mack ($5900)
  • Jacoby Brissett ($5000)
  • Eric Ebron ($3800)
  • Jack Doyle ($3100)
  • Deon Cain ($3000)
  • Colts D/ST ($2500)

Colts at Titans: Injury Report

  • Titans OT Taylor Lewan begins the season on suspension. That puts them at a disadvantage when trying to protect Titans QB Marcus Mariota from Colts DE Justin Houston. Houston’s Colts debut included a sack. Colts DE Jabaal Sheard continues to recover from a knee injury. He has a small chance to suit up here.
  • Colts WR Devin Funchess suffered a broken collarbone. He was placed on injured reserve. This should elevate 2018 sixth-rounder Deon Cain into a No. 2 role. Other than WR T.Y. Hilton, the Colts have four wide receivers who could share targets until one breaks out of the group. Additionally, they could elect to run more double tight-end sets with TEs Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle.

Colts at Titans: Lines (As of Sep. 11)

  • Titans (-3)
  • Over/Under 44.5

Colts at Titans: NFL DFS Advice

  • Expect this game to play UNDER to AROUND 44. As the Colts continue to transition into the Jacoby Brissett era, they’ll focus more on a ground game featuring Marlon Mack. Following 25 carries for 174 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers, Mack enters Week 2 as the NFL’s leading rusher. Combined with a conservative Titans offense that focuses on the ground game and short passes, fans shouldn’t expect a shootout. A couple big plays could turn this into a 27-20ish game that squeaks past the projected over/under total.
  • How will the Titans respond after a big victory? Last season, they responded poorly following their two biggest victories. They followed an overtime win against defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles with a loss to the Buffalo Bills. They followed a blowout victory against eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots with a 28-point loss to the Colts.
  • My favorite overall plays depend on game script. A game script favoring Tennessee would favor Titans RB Henry and Colts WR Hilton. A game script favoring Indianapolis would favor Colts WR Hilton and Titans RB Lewis.
    • Colts WR Hilton has the most upside of anybody on either team. There is risk. Although Colts WR Funchess’ absence leaves open more targets, it’s possible that Tennessee double-teams or shadows coverages toward Hilton. As aforementioned in the injuries section, no other Colts wide receiver has anywhere near Hilton’s experience or talent. That didn’t stop Hilton from a Week 1 performance including eight catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
    • Colts RB Mack is the safest play but with limited upside for GPPs. In both of his 2018 meetings against Tennessee, Mack scored rushing touchdowns. His Week 17 stat line included 25 carries for 119 yards and a touchdown. Mack is rarely used as a receiver. While Mack should get a hefty workload against 2018’s No. 3 scoring defense, His lack of PPR value limits him to cash games and possibly GPP game stacks.
    • The Colts are susceptible to pass-catching backs, e.g. Titans RB Lewis. In 2018, only one team surrendered more than Indianapolis’ 110 catches to RBs. That doesn’t appear to change after Chargers RB Austin Ekeler secured six catches on seven targets for 96 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1. Eckler finished that game with nearly 40 DraftKings points. If the Titans fall behind, Lewis becomes a $4000 PPR-back with a ton of upside. If the Titans are out in front, then Henry likely sees the vast majority of playing time.
  • Anyone game-stacking must consider game script. A game script favoring Indianapolis could include Colts QB Brissett, Colts RB Mack, Colts WR Hilton, and Titans RB Lewis. A game script favoring Tennessee favors RB Henry and Colts WR Hilton. While QB Mariota is capable of another 20ish-point performance, it’s hard to pinpoint which wide receiver would go off. He likes to spread the ball around to multiple options. His wide receivers move all over the place. Newly acquired SWR Humphries may not get enough usage as he did in Tampa’s pass-heavy attack to merit fantasy consideration.
  • My last piece of advice includes checking out Colts TE Doyle. The former undrafted free agent who didn’t make the Titans roster has enjoyed some of his best performances against them. As a No. 2 tight end in an offense that will likely favor the running game, Doyle is little more than a contrarian value play. If you make a lot of teams, then maybe throw him in a couple game stacks.
