It’s a new year. Hell, it’s a new decade – so let’s get some new music. While you be up in the gym just working on your fitness, add these new albums to your playlist and feel the burn.

Selena Gomez Rare

2020 is looking to be a big year for female pop stars with new releases from Alicia Keys, Kesha, Halsey, Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus just to name a few. First out of the gate is former Disney princess Selena Gomez. Gomez returns with her first album in four years. Rare finds Selena pondering her past and empowered as she moves forward with an ability to express herself like she never has. Lead single “Lose You To Love Me” has been all over radio and television. There is no way you haven’t seen the iPhone commercial featuring Selena and the song as it has played nonstop over the last few months. 6lack and Kid Cudi drop in on the album that is sure to be a big hit for the Spring Breakers star. @selenagomez

Alexandra Savior The Archer

You have to feel really good about your self when at 17, Courtney Love discovers you on YouTube and declares that you are going to be huge and then just a year later after graduating high school, Linda Perry compares you to Fiona Apple. It’s hard to imagine bigger compliments as a young musician in Portland, OR. Alexandra Savior is back with her sophomore album The Archer and it is full of depression and heartbreak as it was written after ending a rocky relationship and being dropped from her previous label. Savior says that lead single “Crying All The Time” “is about how it feels to be in a relationship with a person who’s disappointed in you.” If you’re in California in February you can catch Alexandra live throughout the state. @alexandrasavior

The Big Moon Walking Like We Do

Fresh off being the supporting act for the Pixies UK tour, London based band The Big Moon returns with the follow-up to their successful debut album, Love in the 4th Dimension. The band could have easily stayed in the lane that Dimension created for them, but instead decided to switch lanes and change their sound. The sense of the bands togetherness is still very much there while they focus on their melodies and vocals of band leader Juliette Jackson. This is a much more mature album for The Big Moon through their tackling of issues like social inequality and empowerment. While Walking Like We Do is a superb follow up to their debut it is still obvious that The Big Moon is a band that is maturing and loving life. @thebigmoon

Poppy I Disagree

Bipolar. I’m bipolar. That should honestly be the name of the latest effort from YouTuber, singer turned religious leader(Wikipedia never lies) Poppy after listening to opening track “Concrete”. The song starts off with a strong rock guitar intro followed by something you’d hear in a Mario video game then back to another guitar portion before a Beatles-esque part. The title track continues with the harder rock theme while including great melodies. Poppy spends a great deal of the album in a Jekyll and Hyde state of mind while floating between metal and pop in songs. “Nothing I Need” shows Poppy delivering a song obviously influenced by ‘90s R&B. Long time fans of Poppy will be disappointed with I Disagree if they are expecting the songs to sound like “Bleach Blonde Baby”, “Interweb” or “Girls In Bikinis.” I Disagree is the most exciting album to date from Poppy and what is most exciting now is to see where she goes from here. You can spend Valentines Day with Poppy in Atlanta at The Loft. @poppy

Echosmith Lonely Generation

Hard to believe it has been seven years since Southern California indie pop trio Echosmith released their debut album Talking Dreams. Siblings Sydney, Noah and Graham return with a new album that picks up exactly where Talking Dreams ended. The 12-song set is full of infectious alt-pop including the title track that tackles the addiction we all battle with, social media and devices. Upon listening to the album, the heavy presence of keyboards is very noticeable. The change from more guitar to keys is in part due to the loss of band member and sibling Jamie. Jamie decided to leave the band to focus on his growing family with his wife Anastasia. Fans of Echosmith will love the new album nonetheless. @echosmith
