Courtesy of the fine folks at the Nashville Scene, one of the premier events on the Music City’s calendar is BACK for 2020! That’s right, folks – clear your schedules, and ffs go buy some toilet paper! Nashville hot chicken week is upon us! Set for January 20-26, this “festival” (what else do we call it?) features some of the finest institutions in the Nashville hot chicken game offering up some quality dishes.

The people at the Nashville Scene are complete geniuses for doing this in January. Nashville hot chicken is HOT. It’s a scientific fact that if you eat it during the summer time, you’re going to sweat. If you make the same mistake I did, and get Nashville hot chicken cheese fries from Hurts Hot Chicken at the Wilson County Fair when it’s a hundred degrees and humid outside, you will likely pass out. So, I can appreciate the fact that we’re doing this when it’s supposed to be in the 30s.

I plan on fully testing just how much my stomach can take next week, as I have my eyes on a few outside-the-box meals from participating restaurants that I’m hoping to get out and try.

Big Natural’s Nashville Hot Chicken Week Picks (2020)

Kitchen Notes: Nashville hot chicken Rangoon – How did we even get here, Kitchen Notes? How have you thought of such a creation?!

Music City Chicken Co.: Hot chicken mac and cheese waffle cone – I have yet to try out the Music City Chicken Co., but this waffle cone keeps popping up on my Instagram feed. I’m going to give in at some point and try this thing, even if it does look like it’ll put me in a coma for a week.

Nashville Underground: Nashville hot chicken ramen – This is officially the top of my list. If I don’t try anything else, I have to try this hot chicken ramen. Two things I would’ve never thought together – the mad scientists at Nashville Underground have done something truly special.

Night Train Pizza: Bad Mutha Clucka – I’m still on the hunt for someone who has done a hot chicken pizza the right way. Night Train Pizza has to be one of the most underrated pizza spots in Nashville, and they’re dropping something called “Kool-Aid pickles” on this thing….maybe this is the one. Maybe this is what I’ve been searching for my entire life.

Nomzilla: Hot chicken bao – I’m a big time bao guy. Love it. Eat at Steamboys in Hermitage at least once a week. But, the idea of a little Nashville hot chicken bao is exciting – top it off with a mango puree and now you have my attention.

Slow Burn: “Old School Meets New” – You’re getting a nice big slab of hot chicken and a hot chicken egg roll from one of the elite Nashville hot chicken providers in the city. I’m sorry, what? Hot chicken egg roll??? Can I just get about eight of those bad boys?

Check out the full list of participating restaurants here. LFG, baaayyyybeeeeeee!!!
