If You Need Me, I’ll Be Watching Edge’s Return on Repeat Today

At the 2020 Royal Rumble last night, Edge returned after a nine-year hiatus from in-ring action. The moment he hit the stage was chill-inducing.

Man, last night’s Royal Rumble match was one for the ages. You had Brock Lesnar just steamrolling the first half of the field. Then, Drew McIntyre got the big shine. The arrival of Keith Lee and the tease of a Lesnar-Lee showdown was nuts. But, all of that pales in comparison to the return of WWE Hall of Famer,”The Rated R Superstar,” Edge.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.

Nine years ago, Edge was forced into retirement after neck surgery. Doctors told him wrestling again would risk permanent paralysis. That was it – he had his curtain call and rode off into the sunset.

Yet, here we are, in 2020, and he’s back in a WWE ring. Just absolutely surreal. Not only is this one of the greatest surprise returns in Royal Rumble history, but it is a comeback story for the ages.

Just returning wasn’t enough, though. That’s not all that made this so special. Edge actually lasted until the final four of the match. We got some stare-downs and interactions we never thought we’d see – Edge vs. Roman Reigns….Edge vs. Aleister Black….are you kidding me? We had a nice little Rated RKO reunion too before Edge was ultimately eliminated. It seems like he’s going to be back for one more run. I never thought I’d see the day – just goes to show you why they say ‘never say never’ applies so aptly to the WWE.

I’m not crying. You’re crying.
