A Nashville-Atlanta Amtrak Line Would Be Sick

They're talking about building out a Nashville-Atlanta Amtrak line, and that sounds like a hell of a idea to connect these two southern cities.

I’ve heard of people in Nashville making the commute to Atlanta on a daily basis for work and regardless of whether they’re driving or flying just completely blows my mind. Could you imagine making the four (or more depending on traffic) hour commute down to Atlanta EVERY DAY?! That’s at least eight hours on the road every single day. Or, flying….yeah, sure…that’s a 30-minute flight. But, how much does that cost? I can’t imagine flying every fucking day just to get to work. So, when I see news of a potential Nashville-Atlanta Amtrak line, I can’t help but be fired up for those people that have to make that commute every day.

Tennessee state officials mulling the possibility of an Amtrak rail link between Nashville and Atlanta have taken an important step forward.

On Wednesday, the Tennessee Legislature’s transportation committee passed a bill that could lead to the creation of a feasibility study, which would assess potential train routes to Atlanta, how much they might cost, and who would pay for them.

So, this has gotta be a win for all the rat race grunts who are struggling with that massive commute, travel costs, and/or wear and tear on their vehicles.

But, how about those of us that like to party?

Atlanta is a fun town. I’m absolutely salivating at the idea of hopping on a train, getting to Hotlanta, getting tanked, and then heading back to Nashville without having to worry about all the logistics. Not to mention, if this thing DOES have a stop in Chattanooga, I’ll be doing the same there. I mean, what’s not to love about this plan?

I’m going to actually read the full article now to double check, but I’m positive it’s only going to take like 30 minutes to zip down from Nashville to Atlanta.

Oh wait, this isn’t the Hyperloop? I’m misunderstanding this whole thing? It’s going to take six and a half hours to get from Nashville to Atlanta? Shit, nevermind. Fuck this, I’m out.
