Hell Yeah, Nashville Might Get a Taco Bell Cantina

It looks like our very own beloved Music City could be getting the fabled Taco Bell Cantina some time soon.

I’m going to share this moment of weakness and vulnerability with you guys as I admit to something I’m not very proud of. I’ve been close to the fabled Taco Bell Cantina once before. There’s one out in San Francisco, and when I worked for a company based out of San Francisco, I strolled right by it.

That’s right. I even asked someone…”hey, what’s the deal with that Taco Bell?” After they told me, I nodded and said something along the lines of “that’s neat.” But, in my heart, my soul was bursting with disbelief, elation, and hot burning desire. You see, I love Taco Bell. It is my vice of choice when it comes to fast food. To hear that there’s such a thing as a Taco Bell that also serves booze….and it’s in a casual dining environment, no less…that is, quite simply, the stuff that dreams are made of.

But, alas…I was a fucking coward that day. I wanted to look cool in front of my techie San Francisco coworkers. So, I didn’t suggest it for happy hour the way I should have, in hindsight. I thought I might get a chance to sneak away and go on my own at some point. But, that point never came, and I flew back to Nashville without scoping it out.

My heart still mourns that occasion to this day. But, it looks like there might be a small, glowing light at the end of the tunnel. News broke earlier this week that Taco Bell Cantina might be coming to Nashville.

Words by FOX17, news by the Nashville Business Journal:

Nashville Business Journal‘s Marq Burnett reports Metro permits showed a Taco Bell Cantina is planned for 131 Second Avenue North. There is also reportedly a Metro permit for a “projection sign with guitar logo for TACO BELL.”

I have to really calm myself down right now. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but there’s apart of me that also wants to head down to 131 2nd Avenue North and just look around. Just picturing what it would be like to see that oasis constructed. Imagine the guitar shaped Taco Bell logo. The refreshment of a cold beer after a hot summer day, and some random combination of Taco Bell ingredients that comprises one of their million menu options to go with it.

I don’t know if Nashville is ready for what’s to come should this thing actually go through. But, I am. In fact, I’ve been waiting all my life for this and I never even knew it.

This could be the biggest of wins for our city at a time when wins are coming like crazy.
