Adam Schefter Had an A+ Mic Drop on the NFL Yesterday

Adam Schefter dropped the mic on the NFL insisting upon having the NFL Draft "while there's carnage in the streets" on ESPN yesterday.

Yesterday was actually a low-key big news day in the NFL. First, they announced that the playoffs would expand to 14 teams in 2020 (if there is a 2020). We’ll see an additional team in each conference tournament, and an extra wild card game. Which brings us to the next announcement – apparently, one of the wild card games is going to be simulcast on Nickelodeon in an effort to reel in a younger audience. Adam Schefter hopped on to talk about the NFL, but when it got to talk about OTAs and the offseason program, he went a little off the cuff.

Wow. Adam Schefter damn near going red faced, elevating that voice while trying to maintain a calm demeanor is some next level shit. But, he’s right!

I gotta give it to the man – props to him for going on ESPN and saying this. I understand that the NFL Draft is a big deal, but given that a lot of other events are cancelling or postponing, I’m damn near shocked that they are planning on going through with it.

I understand that it’s not an event that requires the attendance of thousands of people. Conceptually, sure – you could do a draft without an audience. But, logistically and realistically, how the hell are they going to pull this off?

I don’t know – maybe some sort of virtual draft is the answer. But, you can damn sure kiss your OTAs and offseason programs goodbye. At this point, I’ll just be happy if we can get some sort of training camp this year.

Regardless, Adam Schefter is fired up and high on life and I am absolutely here for it.
