No Titans on the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade Team

The NFL released its All-Decade team for the 2010s on Monday, and to no one's surprise, there isn't a single Tennessee Titan on it.

The NFL released its All-Decade team for the 2010s on Monday, and you won’t get a whole lot of argument against it out of me.

Yeah, like I said, not a whole lot of gripe out of me. I saw some folks lobbying for Drew Brees over Aaron Rodgers, but if anyone has a gripe with the quarterback choices, it’s Russell Wilson. The only thing I’m questioning here is Kam Chancellor not getting one of the safety spots. That dude’s one of the hardest hitters to ever play the position and the Legion of Boom was I C O N I C in the 2010s. Sorry Eric Weddle, but if I have to cut anyone from that group, it’s you.

Regardless, one particular item of interest for this site (since we do cover the Tennessee Titans) is the fact that there wasn’t a single Titan on the list. I don’t think that’s exactly going to surprise anyone. It’s not like the Titans were any good throughout the 2010s. Those 2014 and 2015 teams marked rock bottom for the franchise since its move to Nashville. The ones before it were mediocre at best, and while they got some significant momentum to close out the decade, it wasn’t enough to undo the first six seasons of the 2010s.

So, I’m not here to take issue with the All-Decade team – I simply think it brings up the question: who is the Titan of the decade? Jurrell Casey – no brainer, problem solved, case closed, article written.

Seriously, though – no other Titan has seen this franchise through the 2010s like Casey has. He’s perennially underrated in the ‘best d-linemen in the league’ conversation. For what it’s worth, I’d take Casey over Ndamukong Suh eight days a week and twiced on Sunday. Not only has he been one of the NFL’s most consistent defensive linemen, but he is the one guy who has truly effected games whether the team around him has been bad, okay, or great (and believe me, playing for the Titans from 2011-2019, he has seen all three).

Kevin Byard, Derrick Henry, A.J. Brown – all of these guys could be that Titan for the 2020s. But, if we’re looking back on the last 10 seasons, it’s an easy choice to me.
