In the modern-day NFL, when a quarterback is selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, he’s going to be the immediate Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite for that coming regular season. And that’s the case for LSU quarterback Joe Burrow at William Hill sportsbook.

Yeah, I don’t think I like that at all. I don’t think I like any quarterbacks to win it this year. Burrow is definitely the best of ’em, but I don’t know that any of the first round guys are actually going to play enough in 2020 to post Offensive Rookie of the Year type numbers.

This offseason is going to be weird. It’s going to be shorter, and guys aren’t going to be able to work the same way they would in a normal year. Maybe that means a little more sloppy play, but with each of these guys having an in front of them that teams feel comfortable with, I think it means you’re probably not going to see them all that much in 2020.

Tua Tagovailoa still has some injury concerns – people have been suggesting that the Dolphins sit him this year. Anthony Lynn has stated publicly several times that he’s comfortable with Tyrod Taylor until Justin Herbert is ready to take over. We all know that barring some unforeseen injury or catastrophe, Jordan Love is not going to take over for Aaron Rodgers in 2020. Even Joe Burrow has Andy Dalton in front of him, so Zac Taylor may elect to protect his investment and ease Burrow into the starting role.

So, I say stay away from the quarterbacks altogether if you’re betting this thing as it stands here and now at the end of April.

If you’re asking me, my favorite is Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Chiefs are already talking about this dude playing like Brian Westbrook. He has the benefit of playing in an electric offense, and for a coach that will put him in a position to succeed right away. The type of back he is….man….he is going to post NUMBERS under Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy.

If you’re looking for a bigger swing at longer odds, why not take a flier on Jerry Jeudy? That Denver Broncos offense is suddenly loaded with weapons after this offseason. If Drew Lock can air it out, then Jeudy stands to benefit as a crisp route runner and big play guy. I think he’s going to be in the conversation regardless of whether or not the quarterbacks are in play for ORotY. Dude is a FACTOR.
