Keanu Reeves is a treasure.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we can focus on the newest chapter in the “Bill and Ted” saga starring the aforementioned Reeves. He is back along with Alex Winter as the ‘Wyld Stallyns” in the third film in the series and first since 1991. Reeves and Winter both absolutely nail the older versions of the stoner-esque characters that are still focused on music even though they are husbands and fathers to two teenage daughters that radiate the energy of their dads.

The relationship between Bill/Ted and their daughters turned out to be one of my favorite things from the movie, especially with the performances of Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as the offspring. Without giving too much away, ‘Thea’ and ‘Billie’, the daughters, become an integral part to bringing things together in the final conclusion. They also have an absolute blast along the way. While that is going on, ‘Bill and Ted’ are on their own adventure across all space and time leading to a possible face off with ‘The Grim Reaper.’ William Sadler is back in the role, and like our main stars, brings the same fun energy he did all those years ago.

I went into the film with relatively high expectations as the OG two were always in rotation growing up. I’m happy to say the flick gave me everything I wanted and a little more thanks to the performances and surprises. Kudos to director Dean Parisot, who took what had to be a wild, fun script and brought it to life. Speaking of the script, it really shouldn’t be a surprise the film brings the same spirit as the original two as it was written by the same team of Chris Matheson/Ed Solomon.

The mix of old and new comes together, giving us a totally rockin’ good time.
