How the Hell Y’all Gonna Pull Off a Virtual Whiskey Festival?

Say what? A virtual whiskey festival? That's exactly what the fine folks at the Nashville Whiskey Festival are doing with this year's event.

The Nashville Whiskey Festival is going virtual this year. WAIT WHAT?! That’s right. It’s been one of the most fun events on the calendar in this city for quite some time, and they pulled off the Hail Mary to make sure it STILL happened. I don’t know – I just assumed it was one of those things that would be canceled without question given the current state of affairs in the world, but props to that team for figuring out a way to make sure the fine citizens of Nashville still got their whiskey festival.

The tasting and seminars have been combined into an online experience taking place Oct. 2-4. Eight Zoom sessions are currently planned, and each webinar will have a tasting component. To take part, buy your ticket to one or more tasting at the event’s ticketing page, and then drop by Cork Dorks Midtown location on Church St. beginning at noon Wednesday, Sept. 30. (Delivery is available within the Nashville metro area for an additional fee.)

Well, if that’s how we’re defining festivals, then I have a whiskey festival at home every weekend. Shit, I don’t need a ticket for that! We can just buy some airplane bottles and hop on a Zoom call. The 2020 SoBros Whiskey Festival Extravaganza.

Hey, real talk – I make my jokes and I always make sure to get my shots in, but props to the Nashville Whiskey Festival for finding a way to make this year’s event happen. Also worth noting that they’re limiting the sale of tickets so that it’s not just one speaker talking to a bunch of muted attendees. They’re encouraging an interactive event, hoping the people that attend will feel empowered to ask questions and engage. Sounds fun.

Like I said, it’s always a staple of the Nashville calendar, and with everything that’s gone on this year, folks might just need it now more than ever. There’s never been a more fitting occasion to just sit at home and drink whiskey.
