Chris Johnson Says the Titans Have the Best RBs in NFL History

Chris Johnson with a big time hot take outta nowhere yesterday!

Listen, I understand – we all get caught up in our emotions sometimes…especially when things are going as well as they did yesterday for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who had 264 total yards in the team’s overtime thrilling victory over the Houston Texans. Maybe it’s easy for us to see some shit like that and say some crazy stuff like, “THIS MAN’S THE G.O.A.T.!” You just get caught up in the moment…understandable…as it seems Titans legend Chris Johnson did just that yesterday, when he tweeted that the Titans have the best running backs in NFL history.

I know there’s a bunch of butt hurt people who were totally offended by this take out there that are providing legitimate examples of really good franchises with really good running backs in their history, but I ain’t gonna tell CJ2K he’s wrong. I ain’t here to argue with this man. He’s entitle to his opinion just like the rest of you guys.

Maybe the Titans don’t have a hundred-year history of their franchise with guys that were out there rushing for a thousand yards with a piece of leather strapped to their heads. Maybe they don’t have Super Bowl titles going back to the 1970s.

But, they still have a history at the position that includes the likes of Earl Campbell, Eddie George, Chris Johnson his self, and now Henry. When you pile up those accomplishments, and the seasons some of those guys had, you’ve got a solid group. Campbell is in the Hall of Fame. George is a fringe Hall of Famer, but helped to guide the franchise to some of its best seasons in the early 2000s. Hell, I think you could make an argument for CJ2K being in the Hall of Fame. Henry is, of course, the reigning NFL rushing champ, and has a bright future ahead of him..

…which reminds me, can I just say this? Derrick Henry is like every great Titans/Oilers running back before him combined into one dude. He’s capable of that same tough hard-nosed style as Eddie, but he’s shown the speed of CJ2K once he hits the edge at times. It’s unreal. Maybe he ends up being better than them all.

If you’re asking for my gut reaction to this take, I’m saying, “whoa – slow down, CJ2K.” I have that in common with NFL defensive backs from 2008-2011. It just seems like a lot of history to cover, and I don’t know that I’m willing to put myself out there like that. It’s the same as saying “King Arthur was the greatest king of all time.” Like…..maybe….but I wasn’t around for all of that time. I can’t say that for sure, y’know?

Also, shout out to LenDale White – y’all are gonna laugh at me, but that dude really is one of my favorite Titans of all time.

Just take this for what it is – a legend expressing that the Titans have a pretty damn good history at the running back position. That’s all.
