Welcome in to the 2020 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?

Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2020 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”

2020 NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 6

5. Julio Jones, Falcons WR – The Falcons get the obligatory ‘we-just-fired-our-coach’ win, with Julio Jones doing big things in the process. Eight catches for 137 yards, and two touchdowns, reminding us that he’s still one of the best in the game.

4. Kyler Murray, Cardinals QB – 9/24 ain’t exactly going to hop off the page at ya, but no one can deny the impact Murray has had on the Cardinals in his second season. This team is downright dangerous with him at quarterback. He finished the Monday night blowout of the Cowboys in Dallas with 188 yards and two touchdowns. As a runner, Murray put 74 yards and a touchdown on the board. His ability to run the ball gives that Cardinals offense an edge that is damn near impossible to defend.

3. Ryan Tannehill, Titans QB – Time to wake up on Tannehill – dude’s a legit MVP contender. On the game-tying drive, he went 8/9 for 76 yards and a touchdown with just 1:50 left on the clock. Talk about fortitude – #17 has it in spades. He was third in the NFL this week with 364 passing yards, and tossed four touchdowns to go with it. Put some respect on this man’s name.

2. Lamar Jackson, Ravens QB – Jackson has been having a bit of a quiet season in the MVP race this season, just a year removed from winning it in 2019. But, against the Eagles, he reminded us of just how explosive he can be, rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown. Through the air, Jackson went 16/27 for 186 yards and a touchdown.

1. Derrick Henry, Titans RB – Henry simply imposed his will on the Houston Texans. With the game on the line, they had no answer for him whatsoever. He averaged 9.6 yards per carry en route to a 212-yard and two touchdown rushing stat line. Factor in his 52 receiving yards, and he finished with 264 total yards on the day. He now has 588 yards on the season, making him the NFL’s leading rusher.
