I Don’t Know Why Anyone Is Surprised That Caleb Farley Is Starting Training Camp on an Injury List

But, wait - I thought we all KNEW there was a good chance Caleb Farley would miss some camp time?

Guys, I don’t understand why it’s July and we’re acting surprised that Caleb Farley might not be ready for the start of training camp. Am I the only one that remembers this being addressed back when the dude was drafted? Did I miss something? Did someone not come out and say “yeah, he might not be ready to go by the time training camp starts, but we’re confident he’ll be ready by Week 1?” Am I imagining that? I mean, I’m not surprised that some of the national guys are beating the ‘Caleb Farley injury concerns’ bit into the cold fucking ground. But, those guys don’t watch the Titans. What I’m surprised about is the number of people among the Tennessee Titans fan base that are expressing frustration by this revelation (for the record, we knew this about Bud Dupree, too).

Sports talk guys have used this sentiment for sports talk fodder here in Nashville this week (I’m not throwing shade – look at me fuckin’ writin’ about this shit too!) because it’s just such an easy way to drive up the conversation. People are so passionate about this for some reason. “Clowney all over again…….” my pale ass. Sometimes, I just want to shake Titans Twitter and tell y’all to stop being so dramatic.

It is very clearly NOT time to panic on Caleb Farley yet. Now, you can say it’s not ideal, and I’d largely agree with you. Cornerback is a difficult position to play in the NFL, much less as a rookie. You’d love to see your guy out there getting reps against the likes of AJ Brown and Julio Jones, getting better for the start of the season. I do wonder how that missed practice time will impact his development. So, if you want to say you’re concerned about the missed practice time, that’s fine. But, don’t go calling this guy a bust because he’s not out there immediately. That is a total overreach. That sounds crazy, and by the way, there’s a precedent of the Titans drafting injured guys and it working out really well (Jeffery Simmons). I’m not saying we should blindly trust the Titans brass because of Simmons. But, this should not be alarming. I can’t believe training camp hasn’t even really started and I’m already on this blog telling a certain sect of Titans fans to just chiiiiiiiiiiiill.
