You’re welcome. I won you money last week. Sure, I went 2-1-2, but that’s two wins and two pushes. I only lost one! ONE! (Thank you for being hungover Ole Miss.) And obviously, I’d prefer to win, but a push isn’t a loss – which is kind of like winning.
Just go with me on that one guys. Glass half full.
TCU -14.5 vs. Texas
Same song and dance as last week. I’m going to continue to pick against Texas until they prove that they aren’t the Cousin Eddie of college football. I mean, seriously, did you see the ending to that game last week? Texas gonna Texas.
Arkansas +7 at Tennessee
I could make a lot of jokes here. And I probably will. Are either one of these teams solid? No. No they are not. It’s fairly obvious that neither team knows how to finish, so plan on this game being ugly. Arkansas probably wins outright when Butch Jones punts on 3rd down and is obviously drunk driving Dooley’s old rascal scooter.
MTSU -1.5 vs Vanderbilt
This pains me to do, but I have to do it. MTSU has a very talented spread offense that puts up tons of points. Vandy has a good defense, but I don’t see them keeping up in the 4th quarter. The Blue Raiders get a win for homecoming against an SEC opponent. Forgive me Vanderbilt.
Clemson -1.5 vs Notre Dame
This is the game of the week, and for good reason. Clemson is a phenomenal team that’s likely to win the ACC. Notre Dame is racked with injury and continues to find ways to win. I think that trend ends this weekend. Clemson, at home, should get the win Saturday night. Dabo Swinney and company will then find themselves right in the middle of the National Championship conversation.
Ok, so I don’t have a ridiculous pick of the week (which I’m sure is everyone’s favorite) or a lock of the week. I’m sorry. Instead, I bring you:
Unpopular Pick of the Week: Alabama +2 at Georgia
Why is it unpopular? Everyone thinks the Tide will lose this weekend, even with only a 2 point spread. For some reason, I don’t think Georgia gets it done. Georgia will still “Georgia” it (or Butch it, depending on where you live). I also think Nick Chubb misses the record this week. I agree that Georgia has the better QB, while Alabama has the better defense. The better coach is Nick Saban, who finds a way to win. And Joey Freshwater tears down the strip in Tuscaloosa.
You’re welcome, America.
