It may be old news by now, but credit to WKRN Nashville for this gem of a story.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening customers with an ax at a south Nashville gas station.
Conaser reportedly told police “I’m going to start waylaying on those people because I’m tired of people using my bathroom.”
Conaser allegedly admitted to stealing the ax from the fire station and swinging it at the two victims.
So, first things first – if my only two options to relieve myself are to stop at the Mapco on Murfreesboro Pike in South Nashville or have an accident, you can believe I am going to shit in my car one hundred out of one hundred times. That’s why I’m not going to acknowledge that Mr. Conaser here is totally in the wrong. If you stop at a Mapco in South Nashville, you shouldn’t just prepare for stuff like this, but you should expect it. So, these “victims” aren’t entirely innocent here.
But, Jim – do you really need to swing an ax at people? All because they’re using “your” bathroom?
That’s a face that says to me, “I’ve probably murdered people for less.”
Just a bit aggressive for my taste – I’d much rather just inform the unimposing patrons of the inconvenience I’m presented with every time someone sprays my bathroom with vomit/feces/urine/semen. I always thought that violence was not a solution to a problem, but this must just be how things go down at the Mapco. It’s a modern counterculture that I am completely unfamiliar with.
Let’s not pass judgement, though! For all we know, that is Jim Conaser’s Mapco, and that is Jim Conaser’s fire station where he picked up HIS ax to go swing at people to kill time on a Thursday! Maybe we should step down off of our pedestals and do our research before we throw stones and whatnot.
EDIT: Just did some research, and this guy doesn’t own a Mapco, or a fire station, and actually has an active warrant out for violating the sex offender registry.
Second, how is it so readily easy to steal anything from a fire station? Much less – a fucking ax! How does this living wild card simply mosey on up to the local fire station and walk away WITH AN AX!? Or, was everything locked down, but someone just left an ax laying out in the yard somewhere? Huge breach of security here. But, at least he admitted to all of it. Props to the victims, too – they must have totally seen the error in their ways….like, “Nah – you know what? We don’t want to press charges. This is Murfreesboro Pike, and really, we should have known better.”
The one bit of joy that I got out of this story is that it is 2016 and I’m not the only one still using the word ‘waylaying.’ Jim Conaser and I have that in common.
Stay classy, Murfreesboro Pike.
