Why are you still clicking the link for Tank the 401k? I’m one more bad week away from butt-chugging a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and jumping off the roof of a one-story house. You know – something that isn’t going to kill me but provide just enough of an injury to be considered a cry for help. They’ll take my writing privileges away, but oh well.
We aren’t there yet. I’m down six games after another week of mediocrity. I started so well, too. Looked like I really knew what I was talking about. I’ve gone 9-18 since then, so now I’m just doing it for the LOLs, and the five of you that read this weekly betting column.
But, hey – I can’t tell you guys enough…if you put money on my picks, that’s on you. It’s real easy for me to look at lines and project what I think is going to happen for free. If you choose to go down on that ship with me, hop aboard. Spend your entire checking account – I don’t care. I’m here for clicks, not to be your gambling counselor. All about that #CONTENT
Stoney’s Picks
NFL: Philadelphia -3 @ Detroit – My pick of the week, I love the Eagles in this spot. Coming off of a bye with a defense that is roaring. Carson Wentz may not have as big a day as he had against Pittsburgh two weeks ago, but Jim Schwartz wants his revenge on Detroit. That defense is going to feast.
NCAAF: North Carolina -1.5 vs. Virginia Tech – At 3-1 and ranked #25 in the country, I can definitely say that the Hokies are inflated a tad much. I don’t value blowouts over FCS teams and Boston College and East Carolina aren’t exactly quality wins. Tennessee ran Virginia Tech out of Bristol. Meanwhile North Carolina has wins over Florida State and Pittsburgh. They hung around with Georgia to open the season. And, they’re at home. This is an easy win for the Tar Heels.
NFL: Cincinnati -1 @ Dallas – Two teams that look good, but not great. I like the Bengals to keep the Cowboys passing game in check. As long as Zeke Elliot doesn’t find too much open field, I like Cincinnati’s chances to cover.
NFL: Los Angeles -2.5 vs. Buffalo – Buffalo has a good defense and can run the football. You know who else can do that? Jeff Fisher’s Rams. In fact, you could argue they do it better than Buffalo. I like the Rams in what could be a field goal game.
NCAAF: Arkansas +14 vs. Alabama – Bret Bielema knows how to hang around with Alabama. As a Tide fan, I still cringe thinking back to 2014’s 14-13 win over the Razorbacks. Alabama may not have time to really pull away because of the plodding Arkansas run game.
NCAAF: Tennessee +6.5 at Texas A&M – Both big SEC games this weekend ought to be close. I like the Aggies in this game, but have you watched the Vols this season? This has the potential to come down to the last play of the game. I expect Tennessee to hang around.
Interesting Lines
NFL: New England -10.5 @ Cleveland – You know what I say about 10+ point spreads in the NFL…easy. money. Even against the Browns. But, Tom Brady is back and out for blood. The Patriots may hang a half a hundy on Cleveland. I’m getting my popcorn ready.
NCAAF: Ohio State -29 vs. Indiana – How devalued does Michigan State look right now? Indiana upsets the #17 ranked Spartans and is still nearly a 30-point underdog against the Buckeyes? I’d be tempted to take the Hoosiers here, but Ohio State looks good. Anything can happen – I’ll sit this one out.
NCAAF: Maryland -1.5 at Penn State – Yeah, James Franklin’s Penn State has been anything but the model of consistency, but are we ready to respect the Terps enough to roll into a hostile environment and win what is actually kind of a big game in the Big Ten? I don’t know. Who have they beaten yet?
Last Week: 4-6
On the Season: 13-19 (40.6%)
