I don’t even enjoy this anymore. I had a strong 6-9 week last week, but honestly, it just wasn’t the 15-0 I was expecting. But, I have to keep plugging away for the sake of my livelihood.
I’m sweaty. I haven’t bathed in at least three weeks. I keep staring at that bottle of Jack Daniel’s that I promised you all I’d be butt-chugging if things didn’t break soon. And, you know what….since that proclamation, I’m….I don’t know. But, I just keep chipping away at my deficit. Eventually, I’ll get back to my winning ways….or, I’ll run out of time. In which case, you can find me at the bottom of the Cumberland.
Now, some might say I’m being pessimistic and overdramatic, but listen – this is the kind of pressure that sports writers are under at all times. Every week, picking games is literally make or break. I either win or I fail miserably.
And, I don’t even actually gamble! I don’t even put money on this stuff. Could you imagine if I did? There aren’t enough drugs in the world to curb that sort of depression.
Anyway, if I haven’t depressed you by now, let’s get on to the picks….
Big Natural’s picks
NFL: New England -6.5 @ Buffalo – I have never been more certain of a pick in my life. Bill Belichick is rising from the coffin he sleeps in on Sunday morning to eviscerate the Buffalo Bills. Tom Brady and company need to put these rowdy Bills in their place and remind them who the AFC East belongs to. Pats win 37-13.
NFL: Tennessee -3.5 vs. Jacksonville, and OVER 43.5 – Yeah, why not? Fuck it. I’m all in on my Titans tonight at home, in prime time, they win 31-17, covering the spread and hitting the over. $$$$$$ for dayyzzzzz.
NCAAF: San Diego State -6.5 @ Utah State – Before that slip-up against South Alabama, I really liked the Aztecs chances of running the table and sneaking into a New Year’s Six bowl. Vegas is only throwing 6.5 down against a 3-4 Aggies squad? Nah, man.
NFL: Detroit +2.5 @ Houston, and OVER 45.5 – In my humble opinion, Matthew Stafford is in the top five NFL MVP candidates. These Lions have figured it out and look much better than the middling Houston Texans. This’ll be a little more high scoring than people think. Take Detroit and the over.
NCAAF: Indiana -5 vs. Maryland – at home against an inflated Terrapins squad, I’m taking the scrappy Hoosiers by a touchdown, as they march for bowl eligibility.
NCAAF: Baylor -3.5 @ Texas – Looks like I’m not the only who thinks this game is going to be closer than the records would suggest. Still, a 4-point victory should be easy for Baylor who is still very much in the playoff hunt.
NCAAF: Washington -10 @ Utah – An opportunity to go on the road and beat the second best team in your conference? A team that seems like a bit of an overachieving 7-1? Yeah – this is a statement game for one of the three most dominant teams of the 2016 season so far.
Last Week: 6-9
On the Season: 20-37-1 (34.5%)
