Hot damn! I picked a game correctly! Sure, that’s the only one I picked correctly out of five, but it came at just the right moment. I was another bad week away from finishing the shaving of my head and butt-chugging that bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Thankfully, I got the W and am moving right along.
So, how do I use this momentum? I make 15 picks this week, go 15-0 and next thing you know, your boy is back to his winning ways! That’s exactly how people make so much money on gambling and I’m sure nothing could go wrong by following my advice.
Stoney’s Picks
NCAAF: Colorado +2 @ Stanford – Surprise, surprise, the Pac-12 South is there for the Buffaloes’ taking, and I’m ready to buy in on quarterback Sefo Liufau. Colorado is scoring 39.0 points-per-game, while Stanford is struggling on offense. Surprisingly, the Buffs defense is only allowing 20 points-per-game. This is a deceptively good team that was competitive on the road at Michigan and lost a close one to USC. Just like everyone predicted – we’ve got a Colorado-Utah race to the Pac-12 Championship.
NFL: Jaguars-Raiders: Over 47.5 – This one’s going to be a shoot-out with very little defense played. Each team could forseeably score 30.
NFL: Minnesota -3 @ Philadelphia – The Vikings are the best team in the NFL right now. The Eagles have been struggling. It’s that simple.
NCAAF: TCU +6 @ West Virginia – I think this will actually be a close, shoot-out type of game. The Horned Frogs may not win outright, but I’m not buying into the Mountaineers just because they whooped up on Texas Tech.
NFL: Tennessee -3 vs. Indianapolis – The Titans are built to capitalize on the types of issues the Colts are facing. Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan are going to feast on Indy’s struggling offensive line, and the Titans offense is going to flat out beat up the Colts 31st-ranked defense.
NCAAF: Indiana +1.5 @ Northwestern – The Hoosiers are 2-0 ATS on the road this season. This is a battle of 3-3 Big Ten teams, and both have been competitive in games. Momentum suggests Northwestern, but I have a sneaky feeling Indiana pulls the upset.
NCAAF: Washington State -7.5 @ Arizona State – The Sun Devils were exposed a bit by Colorado last week, and guess who’s coming to town this week! One of the hottest teams in the country, with one of the hottest coaches in the country…and I mean that in the physically attractive sense…Mike Leach. It’s going to be alllllllll Cougars.
NFL: Cleveland +10 @ Cincinnati – I’m finally committing to the Browns covering one of the double-digit spreads. The Bengals aren’t that good and, believe it or not, Cody Kessler is keeping the Browns competitive.
NCAAF: Navy +2.5 vs. Memphis, AND Over 57 – Ask Houston about option football’s ability to control a game. Go on, I’ll wait. Memphis has beaten no one this season. Navy wins this one easily at home, 38-24.
NFL: Buffalo -2.5 @ Miami – Don’t buy into the Dolphins just yet. They are still “inept” according to Adam Gase. The Bills are surging and should win this game easily.
NCAAF: Missouri -7.5 vs. MTSU – The Tigers remain one of the great enigmas in college football. It just hasn’t been easy to figure them out. They’ve been outscored 82-21 in their last two games, which means they’ll probably win this one 77-14.
NCAAF: Arkansas +10 @ Auburn – I’m sorry, I just don’t see what the Tigers have done to warrant being a 10-point favorite opposite a really good Razorbacks team.
NFL: Ravens-Jets: Under 40.5 – Potentially two backup quarterbacks? Nuh uh. This one’s going to be ugly.
NCAAF: UCLA-Utah, Over 46 – I know both of these teams seem to be struggling to score points, and the Utes defense is pretty good, but I could easily see this one going 28-21 or higher.
Last Week: 1-3-1
On the Season: 14-28-1 (32.6%)
