In case you need a refresher on just how awesome Metta World Peace is, check this out first.
Props to the Indy Star for this gem – “Metta World Peace ain’t afraid of no ghosts.
While staying at a supposedly haunted hotel in Oklahoma City, the former Pacers star formerly known as Ron Artest was touched “all over the place by” by spirits of the dead.
But was the Lakers forward alarmed? Nah. Here’s what he told the OC Register:
“The ghosts were all over me. I just accepted it,” Lakers forward Metta World Peace said. “They touched me all over the place. I’m taking one of the ghosts to court for touching me in the wrong places.”
World Peace insisted he was serious before explaining why he did not go somewhere else.
“I was watching a good movie and I was tired,” said World Peace, who incidentally said he saw “Money Monster.” “I didn’t want to move.”
Just add it to the never-ending list of weird stories starring Metta World Peace.”
So, here’s where we are with the peach of a human formerly known as Ron Artest. How did we get here? It started with the Malice at the Palace, during which Artest ran into the stands to fight fans. Seriously, engaging a situation that almost led to a full-blown riot….STILL, to this day, probably my favorite moment in NBA history. And, we’ve come from that to a super chill dude who changed his name to Metta World Peace. A guy who’s just watching movies and getting groped by spirits who he has threatened with legal action.
Just a few points here:
1) I immediately have to wonder if Sir Brandon, the SoBros’ movie guy, would be deterred from a movie by an unknown force juggling his balls. Like, what’s the protocol for this? How freaky does it have to get before you acknowledge that something has gone awry and you should probably leave the vicinity? I don’t know – I don’t know what I’d do. Part of me realizes my incredibly low standards, so I don’t know – do you pass up a ghost HJ? Don’t you think maybe you do it for the story? I think we may have to get the gang together to discuss this.
2) Talk about a guy handling adversity! Now I know how he’s come so far in life. 10 years ago, Ron Artest would’ve stood up and tried to beat that ghost down, but today – he’s a wiser man. That’s how you get through life once you realize what a pipe dream it is. “I just accepted it.” Don’t let it get you down. Don’t let it get in your way. It is what it is. Move on. Words to live by.
3) If there’s one thing anyone knows about MWP, it’s that you seriously do not fuck with this guy. When he says he’s serious about suing a spirit of the dead, you fucking believe it. There’s no questioning that. Otherwise, he might find you and start chuckin’ knuckles.
4) More concrete evidence for the existence of ghosts. All of those shows that come on the extensive array of cable channels can quit working now. Also, how many of these ghost hunters are about to storm this Oklahoma City hotel? Probably going dicks out, too – hoping for a quick tug.
5) First thing I’m doing tomorrow: hitting up Redbox and renting Money Monster. The movie is so good men are ignoring ghost gropes? Have to watch that – it must be the George Clooney factor.
6) Finally, 100% chance MWP was blowed out of his fucking mind during this encounter. I’d be willing to bet what he thinks was a ghost was probably a maid, or a cat even. Not sure. I’m saying 79% chance MWP is blowed out of his fucking mind 24/7.
