Podcast: Best Wrestlemania Ever: Episode 4

After taking on this daunting task with 32 jam-packed Wrestlemanias, the SoBros have whittled it down to the Elite Eight, and beginning with this episode, are faced with some tough calls.

The match-ups discussed on this episode include:

Wrestlemania 22 vs. Wrestlemania X-8
Wrestlemania XXIV vs. Wrestlemania XX
Wrestlemania XXX vs. Wrestlemania XIX
Wrestlemania 31 vs. Wrestlemania VIII

Wrestlemania 22 pulled off a huge upset in Episode 3, knocking out tournament favorite, Wrestlemania X-Seven, in the Sweet 16, but it won’t get any easier for 2006’s installment of the Show of Shows. Wrestlemania X-8 is known for the iconic showdown between The Rock and Hollywood Hulk Hogan, but also featured Triple H vs. Chris Jericho for the Undisputed Championship in the main event. Plus, 2002’s undercard was rather stacked. Can 22 ride out the excitement of Edge-Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels-Vince McMahon, Kurt Angle-Randy Orton-Rey Mysterio, and Triple H-John Cena to the Final Four?

Let’s face it – Wrestlemania VIII should just be happy to be here. The bracket (based on CBS Sports’ list of the top Wrestlemanias of all time) shaped up nicely for VIII, but it faces an enjoyable show from 2015. Wrestlemania 31 should probably be happy to be here, too, but after what many considered an upset of Wrestlemania III in the Sweet 16, who knows?

Wrestlemania XIX was stacked from the opening bout to the main event. Wrestlemania XXX is known as ‘YESlemania,’ but it does it have the complete card needed to knock out Wrestlemania XIX? 2003’s show has breezed through to the Elite Eight. Can the emotional payoff to the Yes Movement knock it out of the tournament?

Finally, there’s the pairing the trio struggles with the most – Wrestlemania XXIV vs. Wrestlemania XX. Two classic main events, two solid undercards, iconic moments. It’s “I’m sorry. I love you.” vs. the return of the Dead Man. Can the moments that made 2008’s show special knock out the stout card from 2004?
