The #Titans are releasing veteran CB Jason McCourty, source said. The longest tenured player on the team is moving on.

Breaking news coming out of Tennessee Titans camp this afternoon. Obviously, that little blue check next to his name verifies that this is indeed the real Ian Rapoport. Credit to Paul Kuharsky for saying this was a possibility months ago. Still, it comes as a bit of a shock.
McCourty was drafted back 203rd overall way back in 2009. For most of his career, he’s been the best corner on the team, and at one point, was considered one of the 10 best at his position in the entire NFL. He was constantly underrated, and never got the recognition he deserved for the work he did while here in Nashville.
This community will sure miss his presence. But, this should be a clear indicator that the Titans are serious about improving their secondary. McCourty hasn’t been fully healthy in a couple of seasons, and even when he was, it was evident that he had begun to lose a step. Now, the team will undoubtedly look to the draft to bring in their cornerback of the future.
And, yes, my mind went here, too – he will probably end up with the New England Patriots. Lest we forget, it wasn’t too long ago the Pats were inquiring about a trade that would send Jason up to Boston to play alongside his brother, Devin.
Anyway, if you’re raising a glass tonight, raise one to #30. One of the greatest, most underrated Titans in team history.
